2026 Renault Scenic E-Tech

Renault is refreshing the Scenic E-Tech electric for 2026, and most of the changes centre on range, charging speed and connectivity rather than a visual overhaul. The car remains built in France at the Douai plant, part of Renault's ElectriCity cluster, with battery assembly also happening locally using cells sourced from Poland.

Exterior design observations

Visually, the update is subtle. Renault has added two new body colours — satin slate blue and exo galaxy grey — and given the front and rear bumper splitters a gloss black finish. Two new wheel designs join the range: a 19-inch Cinetic wheel on Techno trim and a 20-inch Synergy wheel on Iconic, the latter available with aero wheel covers made from at least 72 per cent recycled material.

Vehicle proportions and stance

Renault continues to position the Scenic as a compact package for its class, measuring 4.47 metres long and weighing under 1,900kg.

Interior space and technology

Techno trim gets new front seats and a rear bench trimmed in a PET fabric using more than 95 per cent recycled yarn content, paired with a textured coated fabric containing at least 12 per cent recycled material. The dashboard picks up a carbon black finish with lightning-bolt-shaped topstitching. Higher up the range, Esprit Alpine trim introduces a "spectral titanium" interior finish using at least 75 per cent recycled ABS-PC, while Iconic sticks with two colourways — a titanium black interior with new cubic grey trim, or an optional light grey interior finished with lime wood trim. The openR link infotainment system now runs Google Maps with expanded route planning, including options to filter by charging network, charger power output or payment method, and adds Google's Gemini assistant as an alternative to Google Assistant. A Qi2-compatible wireless charger, compatible with MagSafe on iPhone, is also standard.

Powertrain or performance details

The Scenic's 220hp motor now pairs with a choice of two batteries. The 89kWh NMC long-range pack delivers up to 642km of WLTP range and charges from 15 to 80 per cent in 28 minutes at a peak of 150kW. A 67kWh LFP comfort-range battery follows in autumn 2026, using the cell-to-pack architecture first seen on the Megane E-Tech electric — 232 tightly packed pouch cells achieving 53 per cent packing efficiency — for up to 467km of WLTP range and a 24-minute 15-80 per cent charge at up to 165kW.

Practical usability features

Boot space is rated at 545 litres, and Renault is offering an optional Aero Cargo Box that mounts on the tow bar for an extra 310 litres, said to have minimal impact on range. Other new accessories include a double boot floor with hidden storage, a foldable second-row storage box, a closed centre console organiser and even a car seat and safety lead for pets. Driver assistance has also been upgraded, with Active Driver Assist gaining a Multi Target function to track multiple vehicles at once, emergency stop assist, and a predictive eco-driving function that claims up to 6 per cent energy savings using connected map data.

Market positioning

Renault continues to lean on the Scenic's "Car of the Year 2024" title as it positions the model as the main household vehicle for both daily driving and longer trips. Local production qualifies it for Europe's battery bonus scheme.
