2026 Renault E-Space Concept
By Lorenzo Bianchi October 12, 2026
The 2026 Renault E-Space Concept revisits the original 1984 Espace with a 4.70-meter electric MPV body, short overhangs and 23-inch wheels.
Its six-seat interior features swivelling second-row seats, rear-hinged doors, folding tables and a wide glass roof.
A 1,130 mm OpenR Panorama display, steer-by-wire technology and bio-based materials preview features for future Renault models.
Renault E-Space Brings the Family MPV Back to Paris
The 2026 Renault E-Space Concept has arrived at the Paris Motor Show, revisiting a vehicle format that Renault helped establish more than four decades ago. The original Espace appeared in 1984, putting passenger space and flexibility ahead of conventional saloon design.
The new concept follows much the same thinking, although it now uses an electric architecture and a considerably different interior.
Rather than adopting another SUV body, Renault has returned to the MPV's low waistline, generous glass area and upright rear proportions.
The result is a six-seat family vehicle designed around the occupants before the exterior bodywork.
Clean MPV Proportions With 23 Inch Wheels
The E-Space measures 4,700 mm long, 2,020 mm wide and 1,670 mm tall, giving it a broad footprint without the raised stance of a conventional SUV.
Its short overhangs place the 23-inch wheels near the corners, while the windscreen extends naturally from the bonnet, recalling the original Espace's distinctive profile.
At the front, a large U-shaped lighting signature surrounds the grille and an illuminated Renault emblem.
The rear follows a similar lighting arrangement, with a vertical tailgate designed around interior space.
A black lower body section visually separates the passenger compartment from the technical platform underneath. The front splitter can also lower at higher speeds to improve aerodynamics.
Glass Cabin With Six Individual Seats
The interior is where the E-Space takes a noticeably different approach.
Wide rear-hinged doors open without a central pillar, revealing six individual seats positioned on a completely flat floor.
The second-row seats can rotate through 180 degrees to face passengers in the third row. Alternatively, they fold down to create a large central table.
Passengers also have access to 12.3-inch screens mounted behind the front seats.
A sliding console can accommodate an air purifier, small refrigerator, gaming controllers and other equipment.
Large side windows and a glass roof bring natural light into the cabin, while red upholstery, soft textiles and thick carpeting give the interior a lounge-like appearance.
OpenR Panorama Display and Steer by Wire Technology
Across the dashboard sits Renault's new OpenR Panorama display, measuring 1,130 mm wide and 110 mm high.
Instead of conventional touchscreen controls, two adjustable screens positioned near the steering column manage the main functions.
The compact steering wheel uses steer-by-wire technology, removing the traditional mechanical connection to the front wheels.
Renault says the panoramic display will reach future executive models, including the next-generation Rafale and Scenic.
