2026 Renault 8 Gordini Concept

Two-seat electric coupé produces 270 hp and draws heavily on the 1964 Renault 8 Gordini.
It measures 4.12 metres long, 1.88 metres wide and just 1.27 metres tall.
Staggered 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels contribute to its rally-inspired stance.
The 2026 Renault 8 Gordini Concept brings one of Renault's better-known motorsport names into the electric era. Revealed on September 24, the one-off is a two-seat electric coupé created entirely by Renault's own design operation, following earlier heritage projects such as the R17 electric restomod and Renault 5 Diamant. It will also appear at the 2026 Paris Motor Show from October 12 to 18.
Low and Wide Rally Car Proportions
The connection with the original Renault 8 Gordini is obvious, but the proportions have changed dramatically. The concept is 4.12 metres long, 1.88 metres wide and only 1.27 metres high. A wide track, prominent fenders and staggered wheels give it the planted appearance of a modern rally car.
Up front, there is no conventional grille. A bevelled, V-shaped nose carries six round 3D headlights, recalling the additional lamps fitted to competition versions of the original. The bonnet also does without a conventional shut line and can be removed as a single piece, similar to some racing cars.
The familiar double white Gordini stripe is more than decoration here. Renault has used it as a structural visual theme, aligning elements including the windscreen-base grille and rear lighting graphics with it. The blue body colour, meanwhile, takes inspiration from the original car's Bleu de France finish.
Staggered Wheels Change the Stance
Renault fits 19-inch wheels at the front and larger 20-inch wheels at the rear. Combined with rectangular wheel arches and the flowing roofline, the setup shifts the visual weight rearward. The back itself is wide and heavily sculpted, with a slight rake that was absent from the 1964 car.
That original Renault 8 Gordini arrived in 1964 with a 95 hp rear-mounted engine and rear-wheel drive. The new concept references that layout visually, although propulsion now comes from a 270 hp electric motor. Renault does not provide battery capacity, range, charging performance, torque or acceleration figures in the supplied material.
Minimal Cabin Keeps the Retro Connection
Inside, Renault has avoided the usual large-screen dashboard treatment. A horizontal brushed-aluminium section supports individual round digital displays, their thick bezels echoing the exterior headlights.
Brushed aluminium is also used extensively for controls, contrasting with Alcantara-trimmed sections. Black bucket seats receive blue corduroy centres, while indirect ambient lighting sits beneath the dashboard. Even the double exterior stripe continues into the cabin, changing from white to blue across the dashboard.
For now, Renault describes the 8 Gordini Concept as an exploratory heritage project rather than announcing a production programme. It is expected to eventually join Renault's historic collection at the future Renault Collections museum in Flins.
