2026 Qiyuan A06

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • Plug-in hybrid variant pairs a 1.5-litre petrol engine with electric motors for 136 km EV range and 1,160 km combined.

  • BEV trims come with batteries from 42 to 63 kWh, offering 420 to 630 km CLTC range, and introduce 6C fast-charging.

  • Sleek fastback styling, minimalist interior, and premium features help position A06 as a rival to BYD Seal and NIO ET5.

Styling and Dimensions

The A06 is designed to look modern without being too aggressive. At 4,885 mm long, 1,916 mm wide and 1,496 mm high, on a 2,922 mm wheelbase, it fits neatly into the midsize-to-large sedan category. The silhouette leans fastback, complete with a hatchback-style rear opening that improves practicality. The drag coefficient is listed at 0.217 Cd, which explains the slippery look of its curved roofline and flush door handles.

Up front, a full-width LED light bar ties into slim headlamps, giving the A06 a strong identity. The rear echoes this theme with another LED strip, while higher trims add larger alloys and subtle details that signal their place in the range.

Powertrain Choices

Qiyuan is taking a flexible approach by offering both plug-in hybrid and pure electric versions.

The PHEV uses a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder (81 kW) as a range extender, combined with electric motors rated between 140 and 158 kW. In its largest battery configuration, the A06 PHEV covers about 136 km on electric power alone under CLTC testing. Add the petrol engine into the mix, and the total range stretches to a claimed 1,160 km — a figure that will appeal to drivers who want EV usability without long-distance anxiety.

The BEV models are rear-drive and come in two power levels: a base 120 kW motor or a higher-spec 210 kW unit, which translates to roughly 282 hp. The latter trims are expected to sprint to 100 km/h in about six seconds, which puts the A06 in line with most of its direct rivals.

Battery and Charging

Battery packs for the BEV versions come in three sizes: 42.12 kWh, 51.48 kWh, and 63.18 kWh. That gives buyers a choice between about 420 km, 510 km, or 630 km of CLTC range.

What stands out is the “6C” charging technology debuting on the A06. Changan claims it can add 300 km of range in just five minutes under ideal conditions, putting it in the conversation with the fastest-charging sedans on sale. Whether the public charging network can keep up with that promise is another story, but the capability is significant.

Cabin and Features

Inside, the A06 follows the less-is-more philosophy. The dashboard is minimalist, dominated by a large central screen and a slim digital cluster. Materials are two-tone, with soft surfaces and discreet ambient lighting that can be set in 256 colors on higher trims.

Front seats are available with heating, ventilation, and massage, while the rear bench can be specified with its own climate functions. Storage is generous, with a front trunk supplementing a large boot, and plenty of cubbies spread across the cabin. In some trims, a 20-speaker audio system takes center stage.

The mix of digital controls with physical toggles for essentials keeps the cabin from feeling overly dependent on the screen. Gesture control has been added, though whether drivers will use it regularly remains to be seen.

Driving Dynamics

On the road, the A06 should benefit from its sleek aerodynamics and balanced proportions. The wheelbase of nearly 3 meters promises decent rear legroom as well as stability. The drag coefficient of 0.217 Cd helps both efficiency and refinement. The BEV’s higher-output trims are expected to deliver spirited performance, while the PHEV will likely cater more to efficiency-minded buyers who still need long-distance flexibility.
