2026 Peugeot E-T16 Concept
By Lorenzo Bianchi October 12, 2026
The 2026 Peugeot E-T16 Concept celebrates the Peugeot 205 T16's World Rally Championship victories in 1985 and 1986, introducing styling cues intended for the next E-208.
Three electric motors produce a combined 816 hp, with claimed acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and 0 to 300 km/h in 16 seconds.
An 85 kWh battery, 800V architecture and a new Hypersquare steering system accompany the concept's performance focused development.
Peugeot E-T16 Revives the 205 T16 Rally Heritage
The 2026 Peugeot E-T16 Concept brings one of Peugeot's best known rally cars into the electric era. Developed alongside Peugeot Sport, the concept marks 40 years since the 205 T16 secured consecutive World Rally Championship titles in 1985 and 1986.
There is more to it than a historical tribute. Peugeot has used the project to explore its upcoming Feline Future design language, which will influence the next generation E-208.
The result is a compact performance hatchback with widened bodywork, substantial aerodynamic changes and considerably more power than any previous Peugeot road car.
Wide Wheel Arches and a New Three Claw Lighting Design
The E-T16 retains the general character of the original rally machine, although nearly every exterior element has been reworked.
Its front end introduces horizontal three claw lighting, with three narrow illuminated strips framing the Peugeot emblem. Below them sit large cooling openings, while two outlets cut into the bonnet help manage airflow.
Pronounced wheel arches accommodate Michelin tires measuring 275 mm wide at the front and 315 mm at the rear.
At the back, a large cat ear rear wing sits above a twin diffuser with adjustable aerodynamic blades.
The Winchester Matte Grey finish references the original 205 T16, accompanied by silver wheels and a red illuminated stripe running around the body.
Three Electric Motors Develop 816 H.P.
It is driven by three electric motors – one on the front axle and two on the rear. Combined output reaches 816 hp, making the E-T16 Peugeot's most powerful model to date.
Acceleration figures are equally substantial. Peugeot claims 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds, with 300 km/h reached in 16 seconds.
Torque vectoring distributes power between individual rear wheels and across both axles. Four driving modes adjust power delivery, suspension settings and torque distribution.
Braking is handled by four 380 mm discs, supported by a rally style vertical hydraulic handbrake.
Digital i-Cockpit With Hypersquare Steering
Inside, the E-T16 introduces a 21 inch curved panoramic display and Peugeot's latest Hypersquare steering control.
The steer by wire system replaces the conventional steering connection, while the Hypersquare incorporates a configurable display showing driving information and lap times.
Carbon fiber bucket seats feature four point harnesses, technical fabric and recycled PELINOVA leather. Red detailing continues across the seats, roll cage and roof lining.
Like the original 205 T16, the entire rear body section tilts open, exposing the rear motors, suspension components and a storage compartment large enough for two helmets.
85 kWh Battery and Future Peugeot E-208 Connection
Despite its track oriented specifications, the E-T16 uses an 85 kWh battery and 800V electrical architecture, with a claimed WLTP range of up to 400 km.
Peugeot quotes a 10 to 80 percent charging time of under 15 minutes. Motorsport derived side cooling technology helps manage battery temperatures during demanding driving.
