The 2027 Peugeot 408 sharpens its fastback stance with revised lighting signatures and a new Flare Green body color.
A full range of electrified powertrains is offered, including a 213 PS electric E-408 with extended EV functionality.
Interior updates and connected services push the 408 further toward the premium end of the C segment.
A fastback still defining its own space
Peugeot’s 408 has never followed a conventional template, and the 2027 Peugeot 408 continues to lean into that role. Revealed in early 2026, the updated model reinforces the car’s position as a fastback alternative within the crowded C segment, sitting visually and conceptually between traditional hatchbacks and compact SUVs. Built in Mulhouse, France, it remains one of Peugeot’s most design-led global products.
Exterior revisions and visual identity
The proportions remain familiar: low overall height, long wheelbase, and a planted stance defined by wide tracks. What changes is the level of visual precision. The front end adopts a reworked grille and bumper with deeper 3D sculpting and more pronounced use of gloss and matte black elements. Headlamps are positioned low and kept visually discreet, allowing the vertical LED light signatures to dominate the car’s expression.
At the rear, the 2027 Peugeot 408 becomes the first Peugeot to illuminate the brand lettering across the tailgate, paired with a full-width light strip and triple-claw LED signature. A new Flare Green paint finish adds another layer to the design, shifting in tone depending on light and highlighting the sculpted surfaces along the flanks.
Updates to the cabin and its perceived quality
Inside, there are discernible yet evolutionary modifications. Sharper graphics are introduced via an updated digital instrument cluster, and higher trim levels come with optional 3D displays. Seats and door panels now have better materials, and GT Exclusive models come with Alcantara and Nappa leather. Eight different hues are now available for ambient lighting, which delicately extends across the doors and dashboard.
Peugeot’s i-Cockpit layout remains central to the driving position, with the compact steering wheel and high-set digital displays shaping the experience. Five configurable i-Toggles sit below the central touchscreen, offering quick access to commonly used functions without overwhelming the interface.
Electrified powertrains and EV focus
The 2027 Peugeot 408 is offered exclusively with electrified drivetrains. The headline is the fully electric E-408, producing 213 PS and drawing energy from a 58.2 kWh usable battery. Peugeot quotes a WLTP range of up to 456 km, aided by careful aerodynamic work and a low drag figure. DC charging up to 120 kW enables a 20–80 percent recharge in around 30 minutes.
Plug-in hybrid and mild hybrid options remain available, broadening the appeal for markets and customers not yet ready to go fully electric. EV-specific features such as battery preconditioning, Vehicle-to-Load capability, and Plug & Charge functionality underline Peugeot’s push to make daily electric use more seamless.
