Long-distance electric travel is becoming less about planning charging stops and more about simply getting behind the wheel. That is the message Peugeot wanted to highlight with the 2026 Peugeot 3008 Long Range, taking the electric SUV on a journey back to Sochaux, the French town where the brand has its manufacturing roots and where this model is assembled today.
A Bigger Battery for Bigger Journeys
The headline figure is easy to remember. Peugeot says the Long Range version can travel up to 700 kilometres under the WLTP test cycle thanks to a 96.9 kWh battery pack. That extra range is paired with DC fast charging of up to 160 kW, allowing the battery to recover quickly during motorway stops instead of spending long periods plugged in.
To show what that means in practice, Peugeot drove the SUV roughly 500 kilometres to Sochaux. Even after arriving, the vehicle still displayed 36 percent battery charge, leaving about 250 kilometres of estimated driving range available before needing another recharge.
The Design Stays Familiar
Visually, there are no obvious styling changes that separate the Long Range model from the rest of the E-3008 lineup. It keeps the same sharply creased bodywork, upright stance and fastback-inspired roofline that define the current generation. The focus here is less about introducing a new look and more about extending the vehicle's everyday usability.
Peugeot also used the trip to reconnect the SUV with its own history. Sochaux remains one of the company's most important production centres and is home to the Peugeot Adventure Museum, where the brand's heritage is preserved alongside some of its best-known models.
Designed Around Everyday Driving
The wider E-3008 family gives buyers several options depending on their priorities. Standard-range versions produce 213 hp, while the dual-motor variant increases output to 325 hp with all-wheel drive. The Long Range model takes a different approach, pairing a 230 hp electric motor with the larger battery to maximise driving distance rather than outright performance.
Peugeot also notes that a 62 kWh recharge during the trip was completed using a public DC charger, demonstrating how the SUV fits into existing charging infrastructure without requiring unusually long stops.
Built for Drivers Who Cover More Ground
The 2026 Peugeot 3008 Long Range is aimed at drivers who regularly travel beyond the daily commute. Instead of introducing dramatic styling changes or chasing higher power figures, Peugeot has focused on extending range while keeping charging times manageable.
By returning the SUV to Sochaux, the company also gives the story a sense of place. The journey isn't simply about reaching 700 kilometres. It's a reminder that one of Peugeot's newest electric models is still closely tied to the town where the brand's history began.
