2026 Peugeot 3008 GT Hybrid Black Edition

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • Limited to 150 units, the Black Edition becomes the first special edition of the new 3008.

  • Exclusive Perla Nera Black paint and Nappa leather elevate the GT Hybrid’s character.

  • Comfort-focused upgrades define the package rather than mechanical changes.

A limited edition that sets the tone

The 2026 Peugeot 3008 GT Hybrid Black Edition marks an important moment for the third-generation 3008. Announced by Stellantis Japan, it is the first special-edition variant based on the new 3008 GT Hybrid and is limited to just 150 units nationwide. Sales begin on January 16, with a listed price of ¥5,996,000 including tax.

Rather than altering the core hybrid system, Peugeot uses this edition to sharpen the model’s image. The Black Edition is positioned as a more refined and visually cohesive interpretation of the GT Hybrid, aimed at buyers who value material quality and presence as much as efficiency.

Fastback proportions with darker intent

The new-generation 3008 already stands apart in the C-segment SUV class through its fastback profile, blending coupe-like flow with SUV mass. The Black Edition leans into that shape by introducing Perla Nera Black as a new body colour for the 3008 range. This is the first time the colour has been applied to the model, and it plays a central role in defining the edition’s identity.

Under light, the gloss black finish accentuates the tension in the body surfaces and gives more visual weight to the rear quarters. The Peugeot symbol is prominently displayed on the front of the frameless grille, and the brand's iconic three-claw LED daytime running lights continue to be a significant feature. The darker color scheme gives the overall form a tighter, more intentional sense, but these design aspects remain the same.

Comfort and materials define the interior

The Black Edition's concentration becomes more apparent inside. The highest-grade leather available in the 3008 series, black Nappa leather seats, are added to the cabin. The addition of front seat ventilation supports the edition's emphasis on comfort.

These changes are layered onto the existing GT Hybrid specification rather than replacing it.

Additional features further elevate the seating experience. Both front and rear seats are heated, the front seats gain electric adjustment, and multi-point lumbar support and adaptive bolsters are included. The result is an interior that feels deliberately indulgent without departing from the i-Cockpit philosophy that defines Peugeot’s driver-focused layouts.

Hybrid performance remains familiar

Mechanically, the Black Edition stays true to the standard 3008 GT Hybrid. Peugeot does not position this model as a performance upgrade. Instead, it relies on the existing high-efficiency hybrid powertrain introduced with the new 3008 in July, which underpins the model’s role as a modern C-segment SUV balancing efficiency and daily usability.

That decision feels intentional. By leaving the powertrain untouched, Peugeot preserves the core strengths of the GT Hybrid while allowing the Black Edition to exist as a design- and comfort-led alternative rather than a technical outlier.

Positioning within the 3008 range

With the launch of this edition, Perla Nera Black also joins the regular 3008 colour palette, expanding the lineup to four body colours. That detail underlines the broader role of the Black Edition: not just a limited run, but a tone-setter for how Peugeot wants the new 3008 to be perceived in the Japanese market.

In a crowded SUV segment, the 2026 Peugeot 3008 GT Hybrid Black Edition does not try to be louder or faster. It chooses restraint. Through colour, leather, and comfort, it sharpens the appeal of an already distinctive fastback SUV, offering a more mature interpretation of Peugeot’s flagship compact hybrid.
