2026 Nissan Rogue Dark Armor

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • Dark Armor is a new Rogue SV-based grade with blackout trim, gloss black 19″ wheels, and satin black roof rails.

  • Adds climate features including heated steering wheel, heated front seats, and panoramic moonroof.

  • Retains the Rogue’s 1.5 L turbo three-cylinder engine (204 hp / 305 Nm), CVT, and optional AWD; economy approx. 32 mpg combined.

Dark Armor Arrives on Rogue SV Platform

Nissan has introduced a new Dark Armor grade for the 2026 Rogue, built atop the mid-level SV trim. It brings a darkened visual package aligned with recent design trends. This SUV includes gloss-black mirror caps, badges, pillar trim, grille, and 19-inch black alloy wheels. Satin-black roof rails complete the blackout look.
Pricing for the Dark Armor starts at USD 28,790, a USD 200 increase over the refreshed base model. That places it competitively between SV and SL trims. Destination fees of USD 1,390 apply separately.

Exterior Styling and Design Details

The Rogue’s overall silhouette remains unchanged. Dark Armor differentiates through trim and finish. Mirror housings, window pillars, and badging are treated in gloss black. The roof rails carry a satin-black finish to match. The 19-inch wheels are black gloss Monolith designs, lending a cohesive appearance without changing core body lines.
Exterior lighting and highlights remain the standard Rogue design, emphasizing familiarity while enhancing visual impact under this trim.

Interior Comfort and Feature Enhancements

Inside, Nissan adds more premium convenience to the Rogue SV base. Features include heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats, and a panoramic moonroof. These are new inclusions for the grade and align with comfort expectations at this price point.
The SUV also receives an HD Intelligent Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection—an upgraded surround-view system that supports parking and urban maneuvering.

Powertrain and Fuel Efficiency Retained

All Rogue trims, including Dark Armor, use the same powertrain: a 1.5‑litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine producing approximately 150 kW (204 hp) and 305 Nm (225 lb-ft) of torque, paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Front-wheel drive is standard; AWD remains optional.
Fuel economy is rated at around 33 mpg combined for FWD models (about 30 mpg city, 37 mpg highway) and slightly lower for AWD versions. These figures reflect efficiency improvements over prior generations.

Safety Systems and Driving Aids

Nissan maintains its Safety Shield 360 package—and for SV trims, including Dark Armor. Standard systems include:

  • Forward emergency braking with pedestrian detection
  • Blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert
  • Lane departure warning
  • Rear automatic braking
  • High beam assist

Additional features like ProPILOT Assist remain available via option packages on higher trims like Platinum AWD but are not included in Dark Armor by default .

How Dark Armor Fits Within the Rogue Line-Up

The 2026 Rogue line-up offers a range from base to premium. Pricing tiers include:

  • S FWD: USD 28,790
  • SV FWD: USD 29,790
  • SV AWD: USD 31,190
  • SL AWD: USD 36,690
  • Rock Creek AWD: USD 33,690 (off-road styling variant)
  • Platinum AWD: USD 38,990

Dark Armor slots in near SV but with added black trim and features, offering styling and comfort upgrades at moderate cost premium.

Practical Layout and Passenger Space

The Rogue remains a compact SUV with a roomy cabin and practical cargo layout. Rear seats offer good legroom; cargo space is competitive for the class with fold-flat rear bench for oversized items. Visibility is aided by the standard around-view monitor and optional drivers aids in higher trims.
The interior layout is familiar from Rogue SV, with Dark Armor adding heated surfaces and panoramic roof for updated experience.
