2026 Nissan N6 PHEV

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • The 2026 Nissan N6 is a new plug-in hybrid sedan built by Nissan and Dongfeng for the Chinese market.

  • It borrows much of its styling from the electric N7 while featuring a shorter wheelbase and PHEV powertrain.

  • Underneath is a 1.5-litre engine paired with an electric motor for a total of 208 hp.

A Plug-In Sedan with Familiar Lines

The 2026 Nissan N6 debuts as a plug-in hybrid that echoes Nissan’s newer electric N7 in looks. The proportions feel familiar—long roof, raked rear window—and it keeps flush door handles and split-LED headlights. This is clearly Nissan design, quietly modernized. The rear has a cleaner bumper and tucked-away exhausts, and the illuminated Nissan badge makes it feel contemporary without shouting.

Design Cues and Dimensions

Viewed side-on, the N6 has a sharper greenhouse and tighter bodywork compared with the N7—it is slightly smaller. Exact measurements show it measures about 4,831 mm long, 1,885 mm wide, and 1,491 mm high, with a 2,815 mm wheelbase. That puts it in the general size bracket of the Nissan Maxima, if only in length.

Powertrain Mix

Under the hood, there’s a familiar combination topping a PHEV layout: a 1.5-litre gasoline engine delivers about 95 hp, with an 87 hp electric motor working in tandem for a combined output of 208 hp. Nissan’s e-Power systems usually let the electric motor drive the car, with the engine acting as a generator—though this specific setup hasn’t been confirmed for the N6. Regardless, the system remains consistent with Nissan’s recent hybrid strategy, focusing on efficiency and smooth delivery.

Tech and Interior Expectations

No official interior photos have surfaced. It’s reasonable—though unconfirmed—to expect Nissan’s current layout: a minimalist dashboard, a free-standing 15.6-inch infotainment screen, digital gauges, wireless charging, and a modern steering wheel design. The N6 likely mirrors the N7 cabin in layout and tech feel.

Market Context

This is the kind of Nissan sedans used to dominate in markets like Southeast Asia and the Middle East. With hybrids increasingly popular outside North America, the N6’s size, hybrid powertrain, and refined styling put it in competition with plug-in versions of the Toyota Camry or Hyundai Sonata. Nissan’s decision to build it alongside the N7 in China through Dongfeng points toward a possible international rollout, perhaps targeting similar right-hand and regional markets.
