2026 Nissan Micra EV UK Version

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • Two battery options with up to 257 miles WLTP range.

  • UK pricing from £21,495 including government EV grant.

  • Sixth-generation Micra moves fully into the electric era.

Sixth Generation Micra Moves Fully Electric

The 2026 Nissan Micra EV marks a turning point for one of Europe’s longest-running small car nameplates. After more than six million units sold globally, the Micra returns in its sixth generation as a fully electric city car, reflecting Nissan’s broader shift toward electrified mobility.

Built at the ElectriCity production hub in northern France, the new Micra is positioned as an affordable entry point into the brand’s EV lineup. The car continues the familiar Micra formula: compact dimensions, simple usability, and a focus on everyday urban driving.

Yet the philosophy has changed. Where earlier generations relied on small petrol engines and straightforward packaging, the 2026 Micra EV is designed around battery power from the outset.

The result is a car intended to slot neatly into European city life. Small footprint. Manageable running costs. Enough range to move beyond short commutes.

Exterior Design Balances Familiar Form with Modern EV Details

From the available press images, the new Micra keeps the basic silhouette that defined earlier generations. Short overhangs, a tall roofline, and a compact wheelbase remain central to the design.

But the detailing clearly moves the car into Nissan’s current electric design language.

The body surfaces appear cleaner and less busy than the outgoing Micra. The nose, no longer shaped around a combustion engine, reads more upright and simplified. Lighting elements become the primary visual feature, framing the front end and giving the small hatchback a wider visual stance.

Proportions matter here. The Micra still reads as a proper city car, not a scaled-down crossover. The stance remains tight and upright, which should help maneuverability in dense urban environments.

It is a small car that looks comfortable in its role.

Two Battery Options and Up to 257 Miles Range

Under the body, the 2026 Nissan Micra EV is offered with two battery configurations.

The entry model uses a 40kWh battery, capable of delivering up to 196 miles of WLTP driving range. This version qualifies for the £1,500 Electric Car Grant and starts from £21,495 including the incentive.

Above it sits the 52kWh battery variant, which extends driving range to 257 miles WLTP. With a Europe-sourced battery now meeting the criteria for the full incentive, this version qualifies for the £3,750 Electric Car Grant, bringing pricing to £23,245 in the UK market.

For a compact hatchback, those figures place the Micra comfortably within the expectations of modern electric city cars. Range is long enough for typical weekly driving without frequent charging stops.

Technology and Ownership Package

Inside, Nissan positions the Micra as a connected city car rather than a stripped-down EV.

The NissanConnect Services app and Google Built-in services, which offer digital connectivity, navigation, and remote vehicle features, are integrated into the interior.

This technology focus reflects a broader trend in the small-EV segment. Compact cars increasingly act as digital devices as much as transportation.

Pricing structure follows a familiar trim ladder—Engage, Advance, and Evolve—with revised PCP monthly payment plans announced for UK buyers.

First customer deliveries are expected to begin in April, with both battery versions already available to order.

Positioning in the Growing Electric City Car Segment

The 2026 Nissan Micra EV arrives at a time when the European market is rapidly filling with small electric hatchbacks.

Affordability will likely define its success. With pricing starting just above £21,000 after incentives, the Micra sits near the lower end of the EV price spectrum while offering competitive range figures.

In simple terms, it continues what the Micra has always done: deliver straightforward mobility, now powered entirely by electricity.
