MINI Lucky 13 Edition Celebrates 1966 Bathurst Victory
MINI Australia has introduced the 2026 MINI John Cooper Works Lucky 13 Edition, commemorating 60 years since Bob Holden and Rauno Aaltonen secured an outright victory at the 1966 Gallaher 500.
Driving a Morris Mini Cooper S, the pair finished one lap ahead of their nearest competitor at Mount Panorama, Bathurst. MINI occupied the first nine finishing positions in the race.
The special edition takes its name from Holden's racing number, which he adopted after drawing 13 from a hat.
British Racing Green Paint and Number 13 Graphics
The Lucky 13 Edition uses British Racing Green IV exterior paint, contrasted by a Glazed White roof and matching mirror caps.
White bonnet stripes reference the original racing car, while circular number 13 decals identify the commemorative model.
High-gloss black John Cooper Works winglets appear around the front bumper, side skirts and lower rear section.
A carbon-fibre JCW exhaust tailpipe finisher and red tow strap complete the exterior modifications.
Three Door Body With JCW Rallye Spoke Wheels
Based on the petrol-powered MINI John Cooper Works 3-Door, the Lucky 13 Edition retains the compact hatchback configuration.
Its exterior specification includes 18-inch John Cooper Works Rallye Spoke 964 Bicolor wheels finished in Frozen Midnight Grey.
The contrasting roof, white graphics and dark aerodynamic components establish a visual connection between the modern hatchback and its 1966 racing predecessor.
MINI has not announced revised body dimensions, suspension settings or aerodynamic figures specifically for this edition.
Circular OLED Display and JCW Interior
Inside, the Lucky 13 Edition includes John Cooper Works seats, a JCW steering wheel and an Anthracite headliner.
The dashboard and door cards incorporate recycled polyester knit trim, while a 240 mm circular OLED display provides the central interface.
A head-up display and MINI Experience Modes accompany extended ambient light projection.
Heated, electrically adjustable front seats are fitted, with massage and memory functions for the driver.
The equipment list also includes a Harman/Kardon audio system with 12 speakers and 365 watts of output.
Turbocharged Four Cylinder With Dual Clutch Transmission
The Lucky 13 Edition uses a 1,998 cc turbocharged inline-four petrol engine from the John Cooper Works 3-Door.
A seven-speed sports dual-clutch transmission handles gear changes, with steering-wheel shift paddles providing manual control.
The supplied release does not specify horsepower, torque, acceleration or maximum speed for the limited edition. These figures remain [Unverified].
Australian Pricing and Limited Production
MINI will manufacture 26 examples, reflecting the edition's 2026 introduction.
Production is scheduled to begin in October 2026, exactly six decades after the Bathurst result.
Australian pricing is set at $71,990 MRLP, including GST but excluding on-road and delivery charges.
Customer deliveries are expected during the first quarter of 2027.
The edition also recognises Holden's wider motorsport career, which included participation in more than 50 Bathurst endurance races across driving, ownership and support roles.
