A rally win that still matters 60 years later
MINI has never really stopped talking about Monte Carlo.
The 2026 MINI Cooper 1965 Victory Edition exists because that 1965 rally win remains one of the defining moments in the brand's history. The original Mini Cooper beat larger and more powerful rivals on snow-covered roads, helping turn a small British hatchback into a motorsport icon.
This new special edition doesn't try to hide where its inspiration came from. Every major design cue points back to that famous car.
The details tell the story
What immediately catches the eye is the color combination.
The Chili Red bodywork contrasts with a white roof and white bonnet stripes, a combination not previously offered on a JCW model. It feels old-school in the best way. There is something unmistakably rally-inspired about it, even before the historic references become obvious.
Look closer and the connections become clearer. The number "52" appears prominently on the sides, referencing the winning Monte Carlo entry. The same number appears on the valve caps and even the exclusive key cap. MINI has also incorporated the winning car's registration number into the bonnet graphics.
Some special editions rely on a badge and little else. This one goes much deeper than that.
The commemorative "1965" emblem on the C-pillar and rear stripe feels like a finishing touch rather than an afterthought.
Familiar JCW atmosphere inside
Open the door and the cabin follows the same theme.
The underlying layout remains familiar to anyone who has spent time in a modern JCW model, but there are reminders throughout that this is something more exclusive. Dedicated door sills, rally-related entry information, and "1965" markings integrated into the steering wheel strap and center console all reference the Monte Carlo victory without becoming overly decorative.
It's the sort of detailing owners will probably notice more over time than during a quick walkaround.
Electric or petrol, the choice remains yours
MINI is offering the edition in two forms.
The All-Electric MINI JCW produces 258 horsepower and reaches 100 km/h from rest in 5.9 seconds. Official range is listed at 291 kilometres.
For those who still prefer a combustion engine, the MINI JCW uses a turbocharged four-cylinder producing 231 horsepower and 38.8 kg·m of torque. Power is sent through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, with a claimed 0–100 km/h time of 6.1 seconds.
Both versions receive the same collection of driver assistance and convenience features, including Driving Assistant Plus and Parking Assistant Plus.
Only 75 examples will be sold in Korea, split between 25 electric models and 50 petrol-powered cars. That alone makes the 1965 Victory Edition notable. The fact that it commemorates one of the most famous moments in MINI history gives it a stronger story than most limited-run models ever get.
