2026 MG Majestor

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • Positioned as MG’s flagship full-size SUV above the Gloster.

  • Powered by a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel with up to 215 hp and 478 Nm.

  • Comprehensive feature set including Massaging seats, ADAS and 10 terrain modes.

Flagship Position and Market Context

MG Motor India has launched the 2026 MG Majestor SUV, marking a significant extension of the brand’s SUV portfolio with a new flagship model that sits above the Gloster in the company’s lineup . The Majestor is aimed directly at established rivals in the full-size SUV segment, including the Toyota Fortuner and its Legender variant, as well as premium competitors such as the Jeep Meridian and Skoda Kodiaq . Bookings are already underway at a token amount of Rs 41,000, with official on-road prices expected to be revealed in April and deliveries planned from May 2026 .

The Majestor is essentially a heavily updated and rebadged version of the global Maxus D90 SUV, tailored for the Indian market with bespoke design, interior and feature changes that reflect MG’s strategy to offer a more premium alternative to its predecessor .

Exterior Design and Proportions

From press images, the 2026 MG Majestor carries an imposing presence. With overall dimensions of 5,046 mm in length, 2,016 mm in width and 1,876 mm in height, it claims stature and road presence within the full-size SUV class . The upright stance and squared profile are complemented by an expansive side profile and a high beltline, creating a boxy yet purposeful silhouette that prioritises interior volume.

At the front, horizontal and vertical LED daytime running lights flank a ‘Mosaic Matrix’ grille, juxtaposing traditional SUV visual cues with more contemporary lighting signatures . The flared wheel arches with 19-inch dual-tone alloys and fixed side steps reinforce its SUV character while providing practical ingress and egress . Rear proportions are defined by full-width taillights and a chiselled tailgate, while body cladding and faux skid plates suggest capability rather than ornamentation .

Powertrain and Driving Capability

Mechanically, the 2026 MG Majestor is offered exclusively with a 2.0-litre twin-turbocharged diesel engine that produces 215 hp and 478 Nm of torque, paired with an eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission . Drive configurations include both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, depending on the chosen variant .

MG’s all-terrain hardware features a dedicated low-speed transfer case and triple differential locks, complemented by a terrain management suite called M-Hub, which provides up to 10 selectable drive modes tailored to conditions such as sand, mud and rock . The Majestor’s claimed maximum water-wading capacity of up to 810 mm signals a focus on real-world off-road capability .

Interior Features and Technology

Inside, the Majestor leans into premium materials and technology. A two-tone cabin with soft-touch surfaces and imitation leather trim extends across three rows, supporting either six-seater or seven-seater layouts . The dashboard and centre console have been redesigned relative to the Gloster, with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a matching 12.3-inch digital driver display marking a clear step up in digital ergonomics .

Comfort features include electrically operated cooled front seats with multiple massage modes, a tri-zone climate system with dedicated third-row vents and dual wireless charging pads . Safety and driver assistance are supported by Level 2 ADAS, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure mitigation and surround-view cameras .
