Edition R introduces the AMG Styling Package to the CLE 53 Coupé in Australia for the first time.
Exclusive equipment includes forged 20-inch wheels, AMG Performance seats and TRACK PACE.
The 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six, AMG Performance 4MATIC+ and rear-axle steering remain unchanged.
Mercedes AMG CLE 53 Edition R Arrives in Australia
The Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupé Edition R doesn't change the formula that already defines the CLE 53. Instead, Mercedes-AMG has concentrated on sharpening the details, giving the grand touring coupé a more purposeful appearance while leaving its performance hardware untouched.
Developed exclusively for the Australian market, the Edition R introduces styling and equipment previously unavailable on the CLE 53 Coupé locally. The result is a version that leans further into the car's sporting character without changing its role as an everyday performance grand tourer.
Sharper Styling Without Reinventing The Coupe
The visual changes are immediately noticeable.
For the first time in Australia, the CLE 53 receives the AMG Styling Package, bringing a revised front apron with additional side flics, a larger rear spoiler lip and a gloss black rear apron. Together with the existing AMG Night Package and AMG-specific grille, the updates give the coupé a lower, wider appearance without altering its overall proportions.
The Edition R also rides on 20-inch AMG forged cross-spoke wheels finished in matt black with a high-sheen outer flange. They complement the more aggressive body treatment while reinforcing the car's performance-focused identity.
Cabin Focuses On The Driver
Inside, Mercedes-AMG has resisted making sweeping changes.
Instead, the updates centre on materials and seating. The Edition R gains AMG Performance front seats trimmed in ARTICO and MICROCUT upholstery, complemented by striking red seat belts. A metal structure trim finish and matching metal-effect centre console introduce a different visual texture compared with the standard CLE 53.
The familiar AMG Performance steering wheel remains, finished in Nappa leather and MICROCUT microfibre, while illuminated door sills, AMG floor mats and the Burmester 3D surround sound system continue as standard.
Familiar Performance Under The Skin
Mechanically, nothing has changed, and that appears to be the point.
Power still comes from Mercedes-AMG's 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six with an integrated starter generator. The engine continues to work with the AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G transmission, AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive, AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension and rear-axle steering. Mercedes-AMG has also retained AMG DYNAMIC SELECT drive programmes and the AMG DYNAMIC PLUS package.
The Edition R adds AMG TRACK PACE, allowing drivers to record and analyse performance data during track driving while leaving the underlying drivetrain unchanged.
Australian Availability
The Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupé Edition R is available through Australian Mercedes-Benz dealerships from 24 July 2026, carrying a manufacturer's list price of $159,900 before on-road costs. Rather than introducing more power, Mercedes-AMG has focused on giving the CLE 53 a more distinctive visual identity while preserving the balance of comfort, everyday usability and performance that defines the existing model.
