2026 McLaren 750S Spider JC96
By Lorenzo Bianchi September 10, 2025
New McLaren 750S JC96 exclusively available in Japan – the first time McLaren has defined a car solely for the Japanese market, with 61 cars available for customer specification.
Inspired by the McLaren F1 GTRs that competed in the 1996 All Japan Grand Touring Car Championship (JGTC), particularly the number 61 car shared by John Neilsen and David Brabham that won the Driver’s Championship.
Features include the 750S MSO High Downforce Kit (HDK) – available for the first time on a Spider – and an all-new, 15-Spoke Ultra-Lightweight forged wheel informed by the specification of McLaren F1 GTRs that competed in the JGTC and 24 Hours of Le Mans races.
A Special Take on the 750S
McLaren’s 750S already sits at the heart of its Super Series — lighter, sharper, and more focused than the 720S it replaced. Now comes the 750S JC96, a limited edition that doesn’t touch the fundamentals but does add a layer of exclusivity.
It’s a car for connoisseurs who know the 750S formula works and don’t need more power or aero, but appreciate the subtle cues that signal rarity. The JC96 is built around small but deliberate touches: F1-inspired aluminium pedals, unique drive select switches, and a gold-finished plaque marking its identity.
Design: Subtle but Distinct
On the outside, there’s little to separate the JC96 from a standard 750S. The silhouette, built on McLaren’s carbon fibre Monocage II chassis, stays the same. Aerodynamics remain defined by the active rear wing, sculpted intakes, and purposeful stance.
The changes sit inside, where the JC96 carries its identity. The new pedal set, taken straight from Formula 1 thinking, gives the cockpit a sharper edge. The bespoke switches remind the driver that this is more than a standard build. And the gold-finished plaque — a small detail — reinforces the idea that this edition is something apart.
Engineering and Performance
The JC96 leaves the hardware untouched, and that’s no bad thing. Underneath sits the 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8, delivering 750 PS (about 740 bhp) and 800 Nm of torque. Power goes to the rear wheels through McLaren’s seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Performance remains as quick as it gets for a rear-drive supercar. The JC96 sprints from 0–100 km/h in 2.8 seconds and runs on to a top speed of 332 km/h (206 mph). Dry weight is around 1,277 kg for the coupé, keeping the power-to-weight ratio among the best in its class.
Suspension continues with McLaren’s Proactive Chassis Control system, blending hydraulic cross-linked dampers with active roll control. It’s part of what gives the 750S its balance between road usability and track sharpness.
Why the JC96 Exists
McLaren has used limited-run editions before to keep its supercars fresh and give buyers something unique. The JC96 follows that path. It doesn’t reinvent the 750S, but adds a curated set of details that elevate it from the regular production car.
