2026 Maserati MCPURA Carabinieri

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • Maserati supplies the Carabinieri with the new MCPURA patrol car.

  • Powered by a V6 Nettuno engine derived from Maserati’s MC20 supercar.

  • Designed with specific emergency and communication equipment in mind.

Maserati's Tradition of Speed and Service

The 2026 Maserati MCPURA Carabinieri carries on the long-standing Italian custom of fusing engineering prowess with patriotism. Although Maserati has previously produced a vehicle for law enforcement, the MCPURA is unique in that it serves both the dual functions of upholding the rule of law and demonstrating the brand's technological prowess.

The MCPURA, painted in the deep navy and crimson livery of the Carabinieri, exudes immediate authority. The design, clearly rooted in Maserati’s MC20 and MC20 Cielo lineage, carries over signature cues: a low stance, vertical lighting signatures, and the iconic trident grille framed in gloss black. Every surface appears taut, functional, and unmistakably Italian.

Engineered from Maserati’s Racing DNA

At the heart of the MCPURA lies Maserati’s celebrated 3.0-liter Nettuno V6 engine, the same powerplant that drives the MC20. Though Maserati hasn’t confirmed final figures for the Carabinieri variant, the engine typically produces 621 horsepower and 730 Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

In this patrol-spec version, the tuning emphasizes responsiveness and endurance over outright speed. Reinforced cooling, uprated suspension, and a recalibrated transmission prepare the MCPURA for high-speed pursuit and long-duty reliability. The car’s balance and rear-wheel-biased layout promise the control required for Italy’s varied urban and rural terrain.

Equipped for the Mission

Inside, the MCPURA blends luxury with precision. While it retains the standard cockpit’s digital layout and sculpted carbon structure, it’s equipped with law enforcement systems — including encrypted communication units, signal beacons, sirens, and secure weapon storage.

Every vehicle also has telemetry and real-time navigation systems, which enable coordination between national and regional Carabinieri units. Even in a utilitarian setting, Maserati's craftsmanship is evident in the smooth integration of the extra controls while maintaining the driver-focused cabin.

Maintaining a Proud Collaboration

From the Quattroporte patrol cars of the 1960s to the current MC20-based units, Maserati has had a longstanding relationship with the Carabinieri. In addition to being a functional vehicle, the 2026 MCPURA is now a rolling symbol of Italian accuracy, speed, and customer service.

Later this year, it will join other performance patrol units in Rome and Milan and go on active duty in major Italian cities. For Maserati, it’s not just about prestige; it’s a reminder that engineering excellence has practical, national value.
