2026 Manifattura Automobili Stratos
By Lorenzo Bianchi October 22, 2026
The Manifattura Automobili Torino New Stratos features a naturally aspirated 4,308 cc V8 producing 540 hp and 519 Nm, paired with a six-speed manual transmission and 0–100 km/h acceleration in 3.3 seconds.
Its carbon fibre body, 2,400 mm wheelbase, 1,247 kg dry weight and 44:56 weight distribution reflect the design's focus on compact proportions and responsive handling.
Production is limited to 25 individually commissioned examples, with customers selecting exterior colours, interior materials and dedicated components. The series began in 2018 and remains in production.
Manifattura Automobili Torino Continues New Stratos Production
The New Stratos continues as a limited-production sports car from Manifattura Automobili Torino (M.A.T.), with a compact carbon fibre body, naturally aspirated V8 and six-speed manual gearbox.
The company's material identifies the vehicle as the New Stratos without specifying a new model year.
The project began with a commission from collector Michael Stoschek and his son Maximilian. They approached Paolo Garella, then at Pininfarina, to create a modern interpretation of the 1970s Stratos rally car.
That one-off appeared in 2010. An agreement in 2018 allowed M.A.T. to build a limited series of up to 25 cars.
Carbon Fibre Bodywork and Compact Wedge Profile
The silhouette follows the original Stratos' compact proportions rather than those of a conventional grand tourer.
A wraparound windscreen defines the front, the wheels sit towards the four corners and a truncated tail closes the wedge-shaped body.
Every exterior surface is designed specifically for the New Stratos, with the entire body manufactured from carbon fibre.
The manufacturer does not provide an overall length or width in the release but confirms a 2,400 mm wheelbase and 44:56 front-to-rear weight distribution.
Short Wheelbase and Double Wishbone Suspension
The short wheelbase and low weight are central to the car's intended behaviour on winding roads.
Double-wishbone suspension is fitted, while a stainless-steel exhaust system completes the published mechanical package.
M.A.T. developed the car around precise directional changes rather than the longer proportions commonly associated with high-performance grand tourers.
Bespoke Cockpit With Manual Gear Selection
The cockpit follows a similarly direct approach. The steering wheel, pedals and H-pattern gear selector take priority, while helmet supports built into the doors reference the original rally car.
Interiors are not identical from one vehicle to the next.
Owners specify seats, materials, finishes and dedicated components, alongside exterior colours and graphics. Even the wheel centre-lock nuts can be selected as part of the commission.
The release does not identify display sizes or a standard infotainment system.
Naturally Aspirated V8 Produces 540 Horsepower
Behind the occupants sits a naturally aspirated 4,308 cc V8 with a flat-plane crankshaft.
It develops 540 hp at 8,200 rpm and 519 Nm of torque, driving through a six-speed manual gearbox.
With a dry weight of 1,247 kg, the New Stratos has a stated power-to-weight ratio of 2.3 kg per horsepower.
M.A.T. quotes acceleration from 0–100 km/h in 3.3 seconds. A top-speed figure is not specified in the supplied material.
Limited Production of 25 Individually Built Cars
The New Stratos occupies a specialist position within the limited-production sports-car market.
M.A.T., founded in Turin by Paolo Garella in 2014, handles design, engineering, homologation and manufacturing. The limited series was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 2018.
Cars have reached customers in Europe, the United States and Australia.
