Design and Proportions With a Focus on Presence
The 2026 Mahindra Motors Scorpio N Z8L Plus retains the upright, muscular stance that has defined the Scorpio nameplate, but this latest range-topper introduces more refinement. The LED signature is now built around dual-barrel projector headlamps, complemented by sequential indicators, LED DRLs and stacked tail lamps that stretch vertically along the rear pillars.
R18 diamond-cut alloys wrapped in 255/60 tyres fill the arches well, giving the Scorpio N a square-shouldered look and underlining its body-on-frame proportions. Chrome appears in measured amounts — notably along the grille, door handles and the metallic Scorpio tail element — signaling Mahindra’s attempt to merge rugged ability with a more polished aesthetic.
Dimensionally, the Z8L Plus sits at 4662 mm long, 1917 mm wide and 1857 mm tall, riding on a 2750 mm wheelbase. Ground clearance is listed at 227 mm, and approach/breakover/departure angles sit at 27.2°, 23.5° and 21.3° respectively.
Performance and Powertrain Character
Mahindra continues with its proven diesel formula: a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel mHawk delivering 129 kW at 3500 rpm and 400 Nm between 1750–2750 rpm when paired with the 6-speed automatic.
The Z8L Plus retains a ladder-frame structure and a rear-wheel-drive base layout, with the option of shift-on-the-fly 4WD. The 4XPLOR intelligent terrain system allows selection between Normal, Snow, Mud & Ruts and Sand modes, supported by a mechanical locking differential and brake-locking differential.
Fuel figures in the spec sheet list 7.8 L/100 km urban, 6.8 L/100 km extra-urban, and 7.2 L/100 km combined, with CO₂ output ranging from 180–206 g/km depending on the cycle.
Interior Features and Technology Highlights
Inside, the Z8L Plus emphasizes comfort and equipment density. The rich-coffee black leatherette cabin features ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and a 6-way powered driver seat with lumbar support.
The tech package is substantial:
- 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- Sony 12-speaker 3D immersive audio with dual-channel subwoofer
- 7-inch TFT cluster
- Wireless charging and USB-C ports
- Front and rear cameras, auto-dimming mirror, auto headlamps and auto wipers
Second-row one-touch tumble access and a fold-and-tumble third row reinforce the seven-seat practicality. Mahindra’s presentation places particular emphasis on passenger ventilation, noting dedicated AC for the second row.
Safety Systems and Segment Position
The Level 2 ADAS suite marks one of the most notable upgrades. It includes Auto Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Front Vehicle Start Alert, Speed Limit Assist and High Beam Assist — all detailed in the safety section of the spec sheet and on the ADAS chart on page 4.
A robust safety foundation supports it: six airbags, ESC, hill hold, hill descent control, TPMS, ISOFIX/i-Size compatibility and ventilated disc brakes on both axles.
Add a 2500-kg braked towing capacity and the Scorpio N Z8L Plus positions itself as a unique value proposition in the body-on-frame SUV segment, occupying a space where affordability and genuine off-road engineering still overlap.
