2026 Lexus UX 300h Shining Essence
The Lexus UX has always leaned toward buyers looking for something premium without moving into larger SUV territory. For 2026, Lexus is giving the compact hybrid a little more visual character with the arrival of the UX 300h Shining Essence. Rather than redesigning the crossover, the company has focused on details that make everyday ownership feel a bit more special.
The new grade joins the Japanese lineup from September 1, bringing fresh colors, upgraded trim and additional comfort equipment while leaving the UX's familiar hybrid formula intact.
Subtle Exterior Updates Make the Difference
At first glance, the UX 300h Shining Essence doesn't look dramatically different. Spend a little more time around it, though, and the changes begin to stand out.
Lexus has introduced a new body color called SOU, a finish designed to produce a distinctive blue effect under changing light. Up front, the signature spindle grille receives a silver coating that gives the front fascia a brighter appearance, while revised LED headlamps use aluminum vapor deposition to improve both durability and the way they reflect light.
Matching body colored fender arch moldings replace the darker trim seen on other versions, helping the crossover appear cleaner and more cohesive. New 18 inch premium metallic alloy wheels complete the exterior package without straying from the UX's understated design language.
A Cabin Focused on Everyday Comfort
The biggest improvements are found inside.
Lexus has introduced its first Layer Grid decoration across the door switches and center console, adding more visual depth to the cabin. Perforated L tex upholstery comes standard, while both front seats now include heating and ventilation.
The equipment list also grows. A color head up display, hands free power tailgate and panoramic view monitor with an underfloor transparency function are included as standard, making the UX feel more generously equipped than before. Rather than changing the cabin layout, Lexus has concentrated on features owners are likely to appreciate every day.
Hybrid Power Carries Over
Mechanically, nothing changes, and that's hardly surprising.
The Shining Essence continues with Lexus' 2.0 liter M20A FXS hybrid powertrain, available with either front wheel drive or all wheel drive. Lexus has positioned this model as a design and equipment upgrade rather than a performance variant, allowing buyers to enjoy the familiar hybrid efficiency while benefiting from the additional premium touches.
A Premium Alternative in the Compact SUV Class
The UX remains Lexus' entry point into its SUV range, and the Shining Essence edition adds another option for buyers who place value on craftsmanship and presentation.
Instead of chasing larger screens or more horsepower, Lexus has refined the details that owners interact with every day. The updated finishes, expanded standard equipment and carefully chosen styling revisions give the compact crossover a more polished feel while preserving the practicality and efficiency that have helped the UX reach more than 400,000 customers worldwide.
