2026 Lexus RZ 550e F SPORT UK Version

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • 402bhp/300kW dual-motor AWD with 0–62mph in 4.4 seconds.

  • First Lexus with steer-by-wire and Interactive Manual Drive.

  • New 77kWh battery with 22kW AC charging and up to 280 miles WLTP range.

Flagship Power and Revised BEV Architecture

The 2026 Lexus RZ 550e F SPORT sits at the top of the updated RZ range, marking the first time the battery-electric SUV adopts an F SPORT performance flagship. Maximum system output stands at 402bhp (300kW), delivered through dual eAxles and Lexus’s Direct4 all-wheel drive system. Acceleration from 0–62mph is quoted at 4.4 seconds, with a top speed of 112mph.

Underneath, the RZ line receives a comprehensively revised BEV system. A new 77kWh lithium-ion battery increases capacity without altering external pack dimensions, remaining fully packaged beneath the floor. Revised eAxles reduce internal losses and improve output, supported by silicon carbide semiconductors in the inverter.

Charging capability is strengthened with a standard 22kW onboard AC charger and DC fast charging at up to 150kW. Lexus estimates a 10–80 per cent DC charge in around 30 minutes under optimal conditions. The expected WLTP combined range for the 550e F SPORT is up to 280 miles.

Direct4 Control and Structural Refinement

Dynamic development has focused on reinforcing what Lexus terms its Driving Signature. Body rigidity is enhanced through additional bracing and structural reinforcements around the radiator support and rear structure. Suspension remains MacPherson strut front and double wishbone rear, retuned for sharper response.

Direct4 torque distribution has been recalibrated, allowing front-to-rear power variation between 60:40 and 0:100 under acceleration, and between 80:20 and 0:100 during cornering. The system’s intent is clear in the data: maintain traction, reduce pitching, and deliver cleaner line tracing through a bend.

Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management is standard on F SPORT grades, integrating braking and stability systems for flatter, more controlled responses.

Steer by Wire and Virtual Manual Shifting

The 2026 Lexus RZ 550e F SPORT is the first Lexus to adopt a full steer-by-wire system. There is no mechanical link between steering wheel and front wheels; inputs are transmitted electronically, with redundancy engineered into the system. Only 200 degrees of wheel rotation are required from lock to lock, eliminating hand-over-hand inputs.

Paired with this is Interactive Manual Drive, debuting on the RZ 550e F SPORT. Drivers can select virtual gears via paddle shifters, with simulated torque modulation, reproduced motor sounds and a tachometer-style display. It is an engineered interpretation of manual engagement within a single-speed BEV architecture.

F SPORT Exterior and Cabin Specification

Visually, the F SPORT distinguishes itself through functional aerodynamic elements. Additional front air ducts direct cooling air to the brake callipers, while a rear diffuser and supplementary spoiler reinforce stability. The model rides on 20-inch aero wheels with alloy frames and resin covers, with blue-finished brake callipers visible behind the spokes.

Dimensions remain consistent across the range at 4,805mm in length, 1,895mm in width and a 2,850mm wheelbase, with a drag coefficient of 0.28.

Inside, the F SPORT adopts Ultrasuede upholstery with blue contrast stitching, eight-way power-adjustable sports seats and a 14-inch Lexus Link Pro multimedia display. Cabin refinement is further improved through additional sound insulation measures detailed in the update programme.
