2026 Lexus ES 350H Premium

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • The 2026 Lexus ES 350H Premium uses Lexus’ new sixth-generation hybrid system with available all-wheel drive.

  • The new ES grows substantially in size, bringing improved cabin space and limousine-style rear comfort.

  • Lexus introduces a cleaner interior layout with hidden touch controls and a new 14-inch multimedia system.

The ES Grows Into a Larger Luxury Sedan

The 2026 Lexus ES 350H Premium arrives with a noticeably different presence compared to the outgoing model. While the basic formula remains familiar — front-engine luxury sedan with comfort-focused tuning — Lexus has stretched the dimensions, revised the platform, and pushed the car further into near-flagship territory.

The new ES now measures 5,140 mm long, with the wheelbase extended by 80 mm to 2,950 mm. Width also increases by 55 mm. The proportions are softer and more flowing than before, though the longer body and lower visual stance give the sedan a more substantial road presence.

Lexus calls the design philosophy “Clean Tech x Elegance.” The styling itself reflects that approach. The traditional spindle grille has evolved into what the company describes as a “spindle body,” integrating the front fascia into a smoother, more EV-like surface treatment. Hybrid models, including the ES 350H Premium, still retain an upper cooling opening to distinguish them from the fully electric variants.

Cleaner Surfacing Gives the ES a Different Character

The side profile is where the redesign works best. Lexus uses black lower mouldings to visually reduce height, helping the sedan appear longer and sleeker despite the actual increase in dimensions. The rear section tapers aggressively into a broad light bar that stretches across the tailgate area, while lower-mounted L-shaped lighting elements widen the visual stance.

Aerodynamic detailing also plays a larger role than before. The ES adopts a full underbody cover, airflow-control fins, semi-flush door handles, and revised mirror shapes designed to improve efficiency and cabin quietness.

Cabin Design Moves Toward Minimalism

Inside, the 2026 Lexus ES 350H Premium takes a far more restrained approach than earlier ES generations. Physical switchgear has largely disappeared behind illuminated “Hidden Switches” integrated into the dashboard trim. The result looks cleaner, though it may take some familiarisation for traditional Lexus buyers.

Passenger space appears to have been a major development focus. Lexus claims a best-in-class front-to-rear seating distance of 1,102 mm, helped by the longer wheelbase. The cabin itself feels more lounge-like, especially in lighter interior trims with ambient lighting and bamboo-effect detailing.

A new 14-inch LexusConnect multimedia system dominates the dashboard. Lexus says the software platform is significantly faster than before, with expanded connected services and integrated navigation functions mirrored directly into the digital instrument display.

Sixth-Generation Hybrid System Debuts

The ES 350H Premium becomes one of the first Lexus models to use the brand’s sixth-generation hybrid system. It pairs a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with a revised front eAxle and a new lithium-ion battery pack.

Lexus quotes a total system output of 247 hp (182 kW) for the ES 350H, while fuel consumption is listed at 4.4 L/100 km in European specification. Front-wheel drive and E-Four all-wheel drive variants are both available.

Underneath, the ES adopts a revised GA-K platform with additional structural reinforcement and, for the first time, a multi-link rear suspension setup. Lexus appears to have prioritised ride composure and cabin isolation rather than chasing sporty dynamics.

That positioning places the new ES 350H Premium directly against established executive sedans from Germany, though Lexus continues to lean more heavily on refinement, quietness, and long-distance comfort than outright driver engagement.
