2026 Kia Sorento X Pro
By Lorenzo Bianchi September 23, 2025
X Pro trim sits at the top of the Sorento range with added off-road hardware.
Gains standard AWD, all-terrain tires, and increased ground clearance.
Positioned above the Sorento X Line, priced higher in Kia’s updated 2026 lineup.
A tougher edge for Sorento
The Sorento has always leaned on versatility—room for families, decent efficiency, a bit of style. For 2026, Kia decided to stretch that versatility further. The refreshed lineup brings cleaner design and upgraded tech, but the new Sorento X Pro is the one aimed at buyers who want to do more than run errands. It’s the trim for those who might actually point it at a dirt trail once in a while.
Updated design, X Pro details
The facelifted Sorento carries sharper headlights, a wider grille, and tidier rear styling. On top of that, the X Pro gets its own touches. Unique bumpers, gloss black trim, and black roof rails set it apart, while a set of off-road-ready wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires makes the message clear. The stance is slightly taller thanks to extra clearance, giving the SUV a more planted, capable look compared to the rest of the lineup.
Inside the cabin
Step inside and the upgrades mirror what you see across the broader 2026 Sorento family. Higher trims get the new panoramic curved display—two 12.3-inch screens tucked under one sweeping piece of glass—while base versions keep a smaller 8-inch or single 12.3-inch setup. Materials have been improved too, with softer surfaces and modern textures making the cabin feel more premium. The X Pro adds its own interior touches, including specific upholstery options, so it doesn’t feel like just another Sorento inside.
Tech remains a strong point. Kia’s driver-assistance suite—Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind-Spot Collision Warning—comes along, along with modern conveniences like multiple USB-C ports and available Digital Key 2.0. It’s all designed to keep the Sorento relevant for families who expect their SUVs to be well connected.
Hardware that matters
The X Pro isn’t all show. Standard all-wheel drive pairs with higher ground clearance to handle tougher surfaces, and those all-terrain tires give extra grip when the pavement ends. It’s not a hardcore off-roader—it was never meant to be—but compared with the Sorento X Line, it has the hardware to back up its image. Gravel tracks, snowy roads, or a muddy campsite—these are the conditions where the X Pro feels like it belongs.
Mid-size SUVs are everywhere, and lately many brands have leaned on rugged trims to catch buyers’ attention. Honda has the Passport Trailsport, Hyundai offers the Santa Fe XRT, Toyota sells Highlander versions with extra edge. The Sorento X Pro slots neatly into that mix. Kia already had the X Line for customers who liked the look; now the X Pro gives them something with more substance.
The 2026 Sorento lineup starts at $40,600, with the X Pro positioned above the X Line. Kia hasn’t hidden the fact that it’s the most premium adventure-focused Sorento in the range. The extra hardware, standard AWD, and distinct styling put it at the top of the family, priced accordingly but still within reach for buyers shopping in this crowded segment.
