2026 Kia Sorento X Line

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • X Line trim adds exclusive design touches, roof rails, and AWD as standard.

  • Positioned between regular Sorento models and the more off-road-oriented X Pro.

  • Part of the refreshed 2026 Sorento range, starting at $40,600.

Kia keeps its mid-size SUV fresh

The Sorento has become one of Kia’s most important models worldwide, balancing family space with premium leanings. For 2026, the lineup gets a round of updates, and within that, the Sorento X Line takes aim at buyers who want something with a bit more visual punch without going all the way to the off-road-focused X Pro. Think of it as the stylish, slightly rugged middle child of the range.

Design: small changes, big impression

At first glance, the X Line doesn’t reinvent the Sorento’s shape. What it does is sharpen the edges with the right details. There are exclusive bumpers, black roof rails, gloss black trim scattered around the exterior, and a set of wheels reserved for this model. The refreshed front fascia shows off Kia’s latest lighting signature, while the rear has been reworked to give a broader stance. The end result is a Sorento that looks tougher and more purposeful, even if the mechanicals remain familiar.

Cabin updates follow the refresh

Step inside and you’ll notice the cabin changes brought across the whole 2026 Sorento line. Depending on trim, there’s a panoramic curved display that joins two 12.3-inch screens under one piece of glass. Lower trims stick with an 8-inch or single 12.3-inch display, but the layout feels more modern throughout. Kia has also pushed for better materials—more soft-touch surfaces and new finishes that aim to elevate the experience. On the X Line specifically, the upholstery gets its own treatment, so it won’t feel identical to the trims below it.

AWD as standard, with everyday focus

Kia keeps things straightforward with the X Line’s capability. All-wheel drive is standard across the board, which should appeal to families dealing with rain, snow, or the occasional gravel road. Unlike the X Pro, there aren’t hardware changes to push it deep into off-road territory. This is more about confidence and security in everyday driving, plus the image boost that comes with a rugged look.

The mid-size SUV space is crowded, and styling-led trims have become common. Honda has the Passport, Hyundai brings in the Santa Fe XRT, and Toyota sells Highlander models with sportier or tougher visuals. The Sorento X Line slots neatly into that trend. Priced from $40,600, it’s not trying to outgun rivals on spec sheets—it’s aimed at buyers who want a Sorento that feels a little more adventurous without giving up its family-friendly appeal.
