Kia's EV Sedan Lineup Has a New Beginning Point
The 2026 Kia EV4 Air Australian Version expands the brand's electric lineup beyond SUVs and into a more conventional passenger car format by bringing Kia's first EV4 sedan to local dealerships. Positioned as the most accessible EV4 variant, the Air grade opens the lineup at $49,990 RRP and sets the tone for what Kia sees as a realistic, usable electric sedan for Australian conditions.
It sits below the EV4 Earth and GT-Line grades, both in price and specification, but shares the same underlying platform and design philosophy. This is not a stripped-back experiment. Instead, it is a deliberate attempt to balance range, technology, and cost in a segment that is beginning to mature.
Exterior Design Shaped by Airflow
The EV4 Air wears the same long-tail silhouette as the rest of the EV4 range, a shape developed with aerodynamic efficiency at its core. With a drag coefficient of 0.23Cd, it is officially the most aerodynamic production Kia to date. That figure is not abstract. It directly contributes to the EV4 Air’s driving range and overall efficiency.
The front bumper's active air flaps help control airflow at speed by automatically adjusting based on cooling demand. The lighting signature is simpler than on higher trims, using multi-face reflector LED headlights, while the front grille adopts a geometric, technical look finished in matte black. Seventeen-inch alloy wheels complete a profile that feels purposeful rather than decorative
Interior Layout Designed for Daily Use
Inside, the EV4 Air follows Kia’s established ‘home-like’ EV interior approach. Anchored by the Integrated Panoramic Display, which consists of a 12.3-inch multimedia screen, a 5-inch climate interface, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, the cabin is serene and uncluttered. For frequently used functions, physical buttons are still present; this decision reflects practical usability rather than minimalism in and of itself.
Connectivity is a strong point. Wireless and wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, alongside Kia Connect app functionality and Over-the-Air update capability. A column-mounted shift-by-wire selector frees up space, allowing for a floating centre console with multiple storage areas. Interior Vehicle-to-Load functionality is also standard, adding a layer of everyday practicality
Reasonable Power and Range
The EV4 Air is powered by a single front-mounted electric motor with 150kW and 283Nm of power and a 58.3kWh lithium-ion NCM battery. Kia quotes a WLTP driving range of 456km, a figure that positions the EV4 Air as a credible daily driver rather than a range-maximising showcase.
Performance is tuned accordingly. The EV4 Air accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 7.4 seconds, and DC fast charging from 10 to 80 per cent can be completed in as little as 29 minutes using a 350kW charger. The EV4 has also undergone a localised Australian ride and handling program, with suspension and steering tuned specifically for local road conditions
Where the EV4 Air Fits
The 2026 Kia EV4 Air Australian Version is positioned for buyers who want a straightforward electric sedan with meaningful range, strong packaging, and a familiar driving experience. In a market increasingly dominated by electric SUVs, the EV4 Air offers a quieter alternative, one built around efficiency, space, and everyday comfort rather than visual noise.
