Flagship Positioning for the Jaecoo Brand
The 2026 Jaecoo 8 marks the arrival of a new flagship SUV for the brand’s expanding global lineup. Developed under the OMODA & JAECOO umbrella and powered by Chery’s Super Hybrid System, the model moves the company further into the large three-row SUV segment.
It also introduces a new level of practicality for the brand. For the first time in a Jaecoo vehicle, buyers can choose between six- and seven-seat configurations, positioning the Jaecoo 8 as both a family-oriented SUV and a more executive-focused transport option.
Pricing in the UK begins at £45,500 for the seven-seat Luxury version, while the six-seat Executive model starts at £47,500. Orders are open now, with deliveries expected from May 2026.
Exterior Design Built Around Brand Identity
In photographs released with the launch, the Jaecoo 8 carries a visual identity already familiar within the brand’s portfolio. The front end is dominated by the signature waterfall grille, framed by slim LED lighting elements that emphasize the SUV’s upright stance.
The proportions are typical of a modern three-row SUV. Passenger room is prioritized while keeping a calm silhouette thanks to the long roofline and somewhat square rear portion. Hidden door handles and flowing character lines add a layer of visual refinement without departing from the rugged cues associated with the brand’s “outdoor” design philosophy.
A floating roof effect and panoramic glass roof further stretch the profile visually, giving the vehicle a lighter appearance despite its size.
Cabin Layout Focused on Passenger Comfort
Inside, the Jaecoo 8 moves into what the brand describes as executive territory. The cabin is arranged around dual 12.3-inch displays, which handle instrumentation and infotainment duties while supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The seven-seat Luxury model emphasizes family practicality with generous passenger space and multiple ISOFIX mounting points. The six-seat Executive variant takes a different approach, prioritizing comfort with four heated, ventilated and massaging captain’s chairs trimmed in Nappa leather.
Additional comfort features include a SONY 14-speaker sound system and wireless charging pads, while a “Boss Button” allows rear passengers to adjust the front passenger seat for additional legroom.
Super Hybrid Powertrain and Long Range Capability
Power comes from Chery International’s Super Hybrid System, pairing a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a three-speed dual hybrid transmission and all-wheel drive. The combined system produces 428 PS and 580 Nm of torque, delivering a 0-62 mph time of 5.8 seconds.
Efficiency remains central to the concept. The plug-in hybrid system allows electric-only driving of up to 83 miles, while total driving range exceeds 700 miles on a full tank and charge.
DC charging of up to 40 kW allows the battery to replenish from 30 to 80 percent in roughly 20 minutes, supporting practical long-distance travel.
All Terrain Hardware and Practical SUV Capability
Beyond road performance, the Jaecoo 8 introduces capability features not previously offered in the brand’s lineup.
For the first time on a Jaecoo model, lockable differentials work alongside an adaptive all-terrain response system to manage traction across varying surfaces.
The SUV also offers up to 2,021 litres of cargo capacity, along with a maximum wading depth of 600 mm. Continuous damping control adaptive suspension further supports ride comfort across changing terrain.
Market Position in the Global Hybrid SUV Segment
Within the rapidly expanding plug-in hybrid SUV segment, the Jaecoo 8 positions itself as a technology-focused alternative to established three-row rivals.
Its combination of long electric range, luxury seating options and genuine off-road hardware suggests a vehicle designed to bridge two roles. Family transport during the week. Long-distance touring or outdoor travel when required.
