2026 INEOS Grenadier Quartermaster

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • The Quartermaster gives the Grenadier platform an extended wheelbase and an open load bed.

  • Core engineering remains unchanged, with ladder-frame construction and BMW six-cylinder power.

  • Positioned as a working pickup first, with capability taking priority over lifestyle polish.

A familiar silhouette, stretched with intent

The 2026 INEOS Grenadier Quartermaster looks instantly recognisable. The upright windscreen, flat body sides, and exposed hardware carry straight over from the Station Wagon. What changes is the proportion. With its extended wheelbase, the Quartermaster reads longer and more deliberate, the rear axle pushed further back to make space for a substantial load bed.

The stance remains squared and purposeful. There are few overhangs, wheels are positioned near the corners, and the surfaces are kept simple. There is no attempt to soften the form for visual appeal. This is a pickup that wears its utility openly, its shape dictated by clearance angles, payload needs, and structural honesty rather than design trends.

Ladder frame and extended chassis

Under the bodywork, the Quartermaster shares the same full box-section ladder-frame chassis as the rest of the Grenadier family, but with a wheelbase extended by 305 mm to 3,227 mm. That extra length transforms usability. The rear load bay is sized to accept a standard Euro pallet, a detail that signals clear intent toward trade and expedition use.

Payload reaches up to 835 kg depending on specification, while towing capacity remains rated at 3,500 kg. These figures place the Quartermaster squarely among serious work pickups, particularly when paired with its solid axles, heavy-duty suspension, and standard permanent four-wheel drive.

Proven six-cylinder powertrains

Engine options mirror those of the wider Grenadier range. Buyers can choose between BMW-sourced 3.0-liter inline-six petrol or diesel engines, both recalibrated by INEOS for durability and torque delivery rather than outright pace. Power is routed through an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission, tuned for smooth progress on road and precise control off it.

Performance numbers are not the headline, but acceleration to 100 km/h in under nine seconds [petrol, verified for Grenadier range] ensures the Quartermaster does not feel strained, even when unladen. The emphasis remains on driveline robustness and predictable response in demanding conditions.

Cabin built around work, not display

Inside, the Quartermaster’s cabin continues the Grenadier’s functional approach. Physical switches dominate, with large controls designed to be used with gloves. The central touchscreen consolidates driving and navigation data, while the overhead control panel houses off-road functions and auxiliary switches.

Materials are chosen for durability rather than visual warmth. Drain plugs in the floor, washable surfaces, and hard-wearing upholstery underline that this is a vehicle expected to get dirty and keep going. Comfort is present, but it is clearly secondary to usability.
