2026 Hyundai Stargazer X
By Lorenzo Bianchi July 26, 2025
New design elements give the 2026 Stargazer a more SUV-like stance.
Powered by a 1.5L Smartstream engine with IVT or manual transmission.
Now offers Hyundai SmartSense ADAS and multiple seat configurations.
Front-End Changes Give the Stargazer a Tougher Look
Hyundai’s updated Stargazer takes cues from its SUV lineup. The front grille is sharper, flanked by vertically stacked LED lighting and DRLs. A full-width rear light bar and a reworked spoiler tie into the SUV theme.
The fender arches are more pronounced. Wheels are now two-tone alloys. The silhouette stays MPV, but the new styling brings a sturdier impression. Still around 4.46 to 4.5 meters long, with a 2,780 mm wheelbase—dimensions haven’t changed much.
Same 1.5L Engine, Smoothed Out by IVT
The Stargazer keeps its familiar 1.5-liter Smartstream petrol engine. Output is rated at 115 PS and 144 Nm of torque. It’s offered with either a 6-speed manual or Hyundai’s intelligent variable transmission (IVT), designed to mimic a traditional automatic.
No official acceleration or fuel economy figures have been confirmed yet. Based on previous versions, it’s tuned for urban drivability and light highway use.
Cabin Gets a Tidy Refresh, Not a Complete Overhaul
Inside, Hyundai sticks to its strengths. The Stargazer continues with a floating touchscreen layout and multiple storage zones—over 30, in fact.
Top trims add ambient lighting, optional wireless phone charging, and a Bose audio system. There’s more piano-black trim and subtle material upgrades on the dash and door cards. Still familiar, but it feels a bit more polished.
Two Layouts for Families: Captain or Bench
Hyundai offers two interior configurations: a 6-seater setup with captain’s chairs or a standard 7-seater bench layout.
Both use the same floorplan, so interior space stays the same. Legroom and seat access remain solid for this segment. Rear AC vents and USB ports are available in all but base trims.
SmartSense Brings the Safety Update This MPV Needed
One of the more substantial updates is the addition of Hyundai’s SmartSense safety tech. Available on higher trims, the suite includes:
Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist
Lane Keeping Assist
Blind-Spot Collision Warning
Rear Cross-Traffic Alert
Safe Exit Warning
Some versions also get Driver Attention Warning and rear disc brakes. Higher grades are fitted with an electronic parking brake with auto hold.
Trim Options Cover the Essentials to Premium Territory
Trims vary by market but generally fall into five categories: Essential, Style, Trend, X, and Prime.
Top trims (Trend and up) offer SmartSense, upgraded interior materials, and added tech like ambient lighting and rear privacy glass.
Captain’s chairs are typically reserved for the upper trims. Lower variants stick with basic fabric seats and minimal tech, aimed at ride-sharing or cost-conscious buyers.
Still a Compact MPV, Still Priced to Undercut Rivals
The Stargazer remains Hyundai’s contender in the compact three-row MPV segment. It takes on the Mitsubishi Xpander, Toyota Veloz, Suzuki XL7, and Kia Carens.
It’s built on the same K2 platform shared across Hyundai’s subcompact lineup. Pricing starts around ₹9.6 lakh and climbs to ₹17 lakh depending on spec. Southeast Asia sees earlier availability, with India and GCC markets expected by mid‑2026.
