2025 Hyundai INSTER Cross UK Version adds adventure styling
The 2025 Hyundai INSTER Cross UK Version takes Hyundai's smallest electric vehicle in a slightly different direction. Rather than changing the fundamentals, the Cross version builds on the standard INSTER with styling cues aimed at buyers who want a tougher-looking city EV without moving into a much larger SUV.
It's still an A-segment electric car designed for Europe, but the extra exterior details give it a more outdoors-inspired personality while keeping its compact footprint intact. Hyundai has also retained the extended 2,580 mm wheelbase, one of the key features that separates the INSTER from many rivals in the class.
Rugged details distinguish the Cross model
From the front, the Cross introduces redesigned bumpers with a squarer appearance, while black cladding wraps around the lower body to give the car a more robust look. Protective skid plates, revised side skirts and standard 17-inch alloy wheels reinforce the crossover theme without making the vehicle appear oversized.
Roof rails come fitted as standard, and buyers can specify an optional roof basket for carrying outdoor equipment or extra luggage. The familiar pixel-inspired lighting remains one of the defining design features, linking the Cross visually with Hyundai's wider electric vehicle range.
Despite the added styling elements, the proportions remain tidy. Short overhangs and the long wheelbase help the INSTER Cross look planted while preserving the manoeuvrability expected from a compact city car.
Flexible cabin focuses on everyday usability
Inside, the layout stays practical rather than complicated. A walkthrough between the front seats creates additional freedom of movement, while the sliding and reclining rear bench allows owners to balance passenger comfort with luggage space depending on the journey.
The front seats fold flat, making it easier to carry longer items, and maximum cargo capacity reaches 1,059 litres when the seats are folded. The Cross version also receives its own interior treatment, combining grey cloth upholstery with lime-yellow accents across the dashboard and cabin trim.
Technology includes twin 10.25-inch displays for driver information and navigation, wireless phone charging, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus Hyundai Digital Key 2 Touch on selected versions.
Electric drivetrain remains unchanged
Power comes from the same electric drivetrain offered in the standard INSTER. Buyers can choose between 42 kWh and 49 kWh battery packs, with the larger battery delivering up to 370 km of WLTP driving range. DC fast charging allows the battery to recharge from 10 to 80 percent in around 30 minutes under suitable conditions, while an 11 kW onboard charger is fitted as standard.
Vehicle-to-Load functionality also allows the battery to supply power to compatible external electrical devices.
A compact EV with broader appeal
The 2025 Hyundai INSTER Cross UK Version isn't designed to become a serious off-roader. Instead, it gives Hyundai's smallest EV a more adventurous appearance while keeping the qualities that matter most in daily use. The spacious cabin, flexible seating, efficient electric drivetrain and comprehensive safety technology remain unchanged, while the exterior updates help the Cross carve out its own place alongside traditional city-focused electric hatchbacks.
