A Mustang Chosen to Mark a Milestone
When Hennessey wanted a vehicle to commemorate its 35th anniversary, the choice was fairly obvious. Few models have played a bigger role in the Texas company's history than the Ford Mustang.
The result is the 2026 Hennessey Super Venom, an ultra-limited edition muscle car created to celebrate the firm's journey from a small performance shop founded by John Hennessey in 1991 to one of America's most recognizable names in high-performance engineering. Production is capped at just 35 units, with each car receiving individual serial numbering and anniversary-specific details.
It's a commemorative model, certainly. But it also follows a familiar Hennessey formula: take a fast car and turn it into something considerably more serious.
More Power Than Most Owners Will Ever Need
The headline figure is hard to ignore.
Hennessey increases the output of the Mustang's factory 5.0-liter V8 from 500 horsepower to 850 horsepower, a gain of roughly 70 percent. Torque climbs to 650 lb-ft at 4,900 rpm, giving the Super Venom numbers that move well beyond traditional muscle car territory.
The company hasn't focused heavily on acceleration statistics in its anniversary announcement, but the power increase alone suggests a dramatically different driving experience from the standard Mustang. [Inference]
For Hennessey, though, this isn't simply about adding horsepower. The Super Venom represents the kind of engineering project that built the company's reputation over three decades. Bigger numbers remain part of the appeal, but so does the process of refining an already capable performance car into something more exclusive.
Subtle Styling With Anniversary Details
Visually, the Super Venom avoids the temptation to become overly theatrical.
A bespoke VenomAero carbon-fiber package adds a more purposeful appearance while also helping cooling and aerodynamic performance. The Mustang's familiar shape remains intact, which arguably makes the upgrades more effective.
Special "35" fender badges identify the anniversary edition, while a stylized "91" graphic on the hood references Hennessey's founding year.
It's the kind of treatment collectors tend to appreciate years later.
Looking Back While Looking Ahead
The Super Venom arrives at an interesting point for Hennessey. The company says it has modified more than 18,000 vehicles since opening its doors, while its Venom F5 hypercar program has helped elevate the brand onto a much larger stage.
Expansion is also underway in Texas, with growing manufacturing facilities and plans to increase production capacity. Partnerships with manufacturers such as Ford continue to play an important role in that growth.
Against that backdrop, the Super Venom feels less like a nostalgia exercise and more like a bookmark in an ongoing story. It acknowledges where Hennessey started while reinforcing what the company still does best.
