A Darker, More Focused Interpretation of the GV80
Genesis is extending its monochrome design language into the SUV space with the arrival of the 2026 Genesis GV80 Prestige Black, part of a broader rollout that brings the trim to North America for the first time. Previously reserved for Korean-market models, Prestige Black is described by the brand as a design-driven package rather than a performance differentiator, but its visual impact is clear from the first images. The GV80, already one of the more sculptural midsize luxury SUVs, looks more grounded and deliberate when dressed entirely in darkened elements.
Exterior Adjustments Designed Around a Single Theme
The most defining elements of the GV80 Prestige Black appear across the exterior. The grille, lower bumper, headlamp bezels, door accents, daylight opening moldings and roof rails all shift to gloss black, creating a single, consistent band of color around the vehicle. Even the Genesis emblem and rear lettering adopt a dark Guilloché finish, blending into the bodywork rather than standing apart.
For North America, the package includes 22-inch black alloy wheels paired with all-season tires. These wheels are unique to the regional specification, and the larger diameter helps visually lower the SUV’s stance while tightening the proportions of its long hood and high beltline. The ADAS radar cover adopts a subdued darkened pattern to keep the visual flow intact.
Two exterior paints are available: Vik Black, a deeply saturated metallic inspired by volcanic Icelandic sand, and Uyuni White, a pearlescent tone referencing the Bolivian salt flats. Both finishes serve the monochrome philosophy, the former amplifying it and the latter contrasting sharply with the black trim.
Interior Finishes Built Around Obsidian Black
Inside, the 2026 GV80 Prestige Black applies a uniform Obsidian Black Monotone cabin theme. Nearly every surface follows this direction: the seating is trimmed in black Nappa leather with exclusive quilting, the dashboard and upper doors receive Black Ash open-pore wood, and functional components—switchgear, door handles, vents and multimedia controls—are finished in black.
Subtle touches add refinement rather than contrast. The speaker grilles are anodized black, and the model comes with Prestige Black-exclusive key fobs. Genesis also includes a dedicated OLED welcome and goodbye animation with a matching infotainment sound theme, making the digital environment part of the curated interior experience.
Positioning and Market Timing
Genesis describes the GV80 Prestige Black as a response to increasing interest in personalization and distinct factory styling. While the package does not introduce any mechanical changes, it gives buyers a cohesive aesthetic alternative that sits above the standard GV80 trims.
Pricing is listed at $83,250, with an additional $1,495 destination charge. Further availability details will be released later in the year.
