A Monochrome Package Designed for North America
Genesis is expanding its design catalogue with the introduction of the 2026 Genesis G80 Prestige Black, a North American adaptation of the dark-themed trim previously reserved for Korean buyers. The new appearance package gives the G80 executive sedan a more concentrated, uniform character, relying on a simplified palette and fine-tuned exterior details. The result reads clean and deliberate rather than ornamental, a decision that aligns with the brand’s growing emphasis on subtle form expression.
Seen in press photos, the G80 takes on a notably lower and more grounded presence when wrapped in the new blacked-out components. The darkened grille, bumper treatments, headlamp bezels, and daylight opening moldings build a single visual band around the car’s perimeter—something Genesis has not previously executed with this level of consistency.
Exterior Elements Built Around a Single Theme
Buyers can choose between two exterior colors: Vik Black and Uyuni White. Vik Black carries a fine metallic shimmer inspired by volcanic beaches in southern Iceland, while Uyuni White is defined by a creamy, pearlescent tone referencing Bolivia’s salt flats. Both finishes pair with newly developed 20-inch black alloy wheels, designed specifically for the North American market, complete with floating center caps.
The monochrome approach continues across the front fascia, the rear bumper, door accents, and the Genesis emblem. To keep the sensor integration visually silent, even the ADAS radar cover takes on a distinctive darkened pattern.
Cabin Finishes with an Emphasis on Material Tone and Texture
The interior of the Prestige Black treatment changes to an Obsidian Black Monotone. The black ash open-pore wood used for the dashboard, upper door sections, and center console creates a subtle contrast without taking away from the overall design, and the darker color scheme highlights the textures of the materials. The upholstery features unique quilting and is finished in black Nappa leather.
Functional touchpoints—including dials, switches, ventilation surrounds, and the shifter—are all finished in black. Anodized speaker grilles and model-specific key fobs complete the package. Even the digital elements are considered, with a dedicated OLED welcome and goodbye animation paired to a matching infotainment theme.
Market Position and Availability
The G80 Prestige Black introduces a more expressive visual identity without altering the sedan’s mechanical setup. Genesis positions the trim as a design-focused alternative for buyers who want a more tailored version of the executive sedan, mirroring the broader trend toward factory-custom aesthetic packages.
Pricing for the 2026 G80 Prestige Black is listed at $79,350, with an additional $1,495 destination charge. Further availability details will be announced later in the year.
