2026 Geely Galaxy Starshine 6
By Lorenzo Bianchi August 29, 2025
New plug-in hybrid system offers up to 100 km of EV range and a 1.5-liter engine with 47.26% thermal efficiency.
Built on Geely’s Global Intelligent New Energy Architecture (GEA), designed for hybrids, EVs, and AI-ready features.
Sized for the midsize sedan segment: 4,806 mm long, with pricing set below the Star 8, making it the more accessible option.
A Sedan Aimed at Balance
The 2026 Geely Galaxy Star 6 doesn’t pretend to be extravagant. Instead, it lands in a space that buyers in China and other key markets know well: a midsize sedan that puts efficiency first but doesn’t skimp on tech. At just over 4.8 meters long and close to 1.9 meters wide, the Star 6 carries a clean, fastback profile, a bold chrome grille, and slim headlamps framed within large air inlets. Out back, a full-width LED light bar keeps the styling current without overdoing it.
Hybrid System Built on Efficiency
At the heart of the Star 6 is Geely’s EM-i 2.0 plug-in hybrid system. It pairs a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine—rated at 82 kW (110 hp)—with an electric motor that can deliver roughly 175 kW (235 hp) depending on configuration. What really stands out here is the engine’s 47.26% thermal efficiency, one of the highest figures in the segment.
Battery capacity is based on lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry, starting at 8.5 kWh, and gives the car up to 100 km of pure electric driving under WLTC conditions. Combined range stretches far beyond that, while official figures put consumption in the 3.75–3.85 L/100 km range. It’s not built to be fast, but with a top speed of 180 km/h, it keeps pace with everyday driving needs.
GEA Platform Brings Scalability
The Star 6 rides on Geely’s Global Intelligent New Energy Architecture (GEA). This isn’t just marketing jargon. GEA is modular, meaning it can accommodate different drivetrains—hybrid, plug-in, or fully electric—and is designed to support smarter features as they roll out, including AI-ready driving functions. For buyers, it means the Star 6 is a future-proof investment within a fast-moving market.
Interior and Cabin Expectations
Inside, Geely is aiming for a clean, tech-forward environment. While full details are still to come, the car is expected to follow the Galaxy family formula: a wide digital display layout, a minimalist dashboard, and sustainable materials. Given the Star 6’s position below the Star 8, expect slightly simpler finishes but no shortage of driver aids or infotainment updates.
Passenger space should be strong, thanks to a 2,756 mm wheelbase, while cargo practicality is boosted by the sedan’s more traditional trunk design. Weight ranges between 1,505 and 1,580 kg, keeping it competitive against similar hybrid sedans.
Geely isn’t vague about where the Star 6 fits. It sits below the larger Star 8, priced accordingly—industry reports suggest an entry point equivalent to around $17,500 USD in China. That figure undercuts many rivals, giving the Star 6 an edge with cost-sensitive buyers who still want modern hybrid credentials.
