2026 Geely Galaxy M7

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • Galaxy M7 is a five-seat mid-size plug-in hybrid SUV positioned below the Galaxy M9.

  • Clean, EV-led styling focuses on proportion, width, and visual calm.

  • Designed for family use, prioritising space, efficiency, and familiarity over performance theatrics.

A new core model for the Galaxy sub-brand

The 2026 Geely Galaxy M7 has been revealed through China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology filings, offering a first clear look at what is shaping up to be a volume-focused model within Geely’s Galaxy lineup. Slotting in below the larger Galaxy M9, the M7 targets the centre of the family SUV market, where space, efficiency, and predictability matter more than experimentation.

This is not positioned as a flagship or halo product. Instead, the M7 appears intended to do steady, everyday work for the brand, expanding Galaxy’s reach beyond early adopters and into mainstream households transitioning toward electrified drivetrains.

Exterior design prioritises width and restraint

From the published regulatory images, the Galaxy M7 adopts a restrained and cohesive design language. The front end is defined by a closed-off, new-energy fascia paired with a full-width lighting signature, visually linking it to the Galaxy M9 while clearly identifying it as part of Geely’s electrified portfolio.

The SUV’s proportions do much of the heavy lifting. Measuring 4,770 mm in length, 1,905 mm in width, and 1,685 mm in height, with a 2,785 mm wheelbase, the M7 presents itself as properly mid-size, neither compact nor oversized. Smooth body surfaces and little creasing aid to reduce visual mass in this upright but not bulky stance.

Wideness and symmetry are reinforced at the back with a continuous taillight design that spans the tailgate. Longevity rather than trend-driven fashion is suggested by the design's continued functionality and measuredness.

Packaging points clearly toward the cabin

Interior images have not yet been released publicly. [Unverified] Still, the Galaxy M7’s proportions tell their own story. The long wheelbase and overall footprint suggest a layout shaped around rear-seat comfort and family use, rather than a cabin designed to impress at first glance and fade over time.

There is a sense that space, legroom, and ease of movement were prioritised early in the design process. This looks like a vehicle meant to be occupied, not just admired.

[Inference] If recent Galaxy models are any indication, the M7’s interior is likely to adopt a calm, horizontal architecture with a centrally mounted touchscreen and a fully digital instrument cluster. The emphasis, as elsewhere in the design, would be clarity and usability rather than visual complexity or layered theatrics.

Plug-in hybrid system confirmed

Regulatory data confirms that the 2026 Geely Galaxy M7 will be offered as a plug-in hybrid SUV. The system is built around a 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 82 kW, paired with a lithium iron phosphate battery pack.

No combined system output or electric-only range figures have been disclosed. [Unverified] The listed top speed of 180 km/h reinforces the M7’s family-oriented positioning rather than any performance ambition.

Positioning in a crowded electrified segment

China’s mid-size SUV segment is among the most competitive in the market, with buyers increasingly drawn to plug-in hybrids as a stepping stone toward full electrification. The Galaxy M7 fits squarely into that mindset.
