A familiar face with a few new tricks
Geely has released official images of the 2026 Geely Cowboy ahead of its scheduled launch, giving a closer look at the updated small SUV.
At first glance, not much has changed. That's probably by design. The Cowboy already occupies a unique position in Geely's lineup, combining compact SUV proportions with styling cues typically associated with larger off-road vehicles. For 2026, the focus appears to be on equipment upgrades rather than a major redesign.
The formula remains simple: take a city-friendly crossover and give it a more adventurous personality.
Off-road-inspired details remain the highlight
Looking at the latest images, the Cowboy continues to lean heavily into its rugged appearance.
Chunky exterior cladding, roof-mounted accessories, and numerous off-road-inspired details help separate it from more conventional compact SUVs. The proportions remain unchanged, with a body measuring 4,442 mm in length and riding on a 2,640 mm wheelbase.
One of the more interesting details can be found at the rear. What initially appears to be a spare tire carrier is actually a waterproof external storage compartment. It's a small touch, but one that reinforces the vehicle's outdoors-oriented character.
Buyers looking for a more rugged appearance will also be able to specify all-terrain tires as an option.
Practical dimensions for everyday use
Despite the adventurous styling, the Geely Cowboy remains firmly within the compact SUV category.
Its roof rack provides 1.3 square metres of cargo space and can support loads of up to 50 kilograms. That should be useful for carrying camping gear, sports equipment, or luggage that would otherwise occupy interior space.
The combination of relatively compact exterior dimensions and added storage solutions suggests the Cowboy is aimed at buyers who want occasional outdoor capability without moving into a much larger SUV segment.
Cabin upgrades focus on technology
Inside, the biggest changes are found in the technology package.
A 14.6-inch central touchscreen now serves as the focal point of the dashboard and runs Geely's Flyme Auto operating system. The layout remains straightforward, paired with a traditional three-spoke multifunction steering wheel.
An interesting design detail sits directly below the display. The air vents adopt an infinity-shaped design that mirrors the appearance of the rear lighting elements, creating a visual link between the front and rear of the vehicle.
Geely has also added 256-color ambient lighting, giving owners more opportunities to customize the cabin atmosphere.
Proven mechanical package carries over
Under the hood, the 2026 Geely Cowboy continues with a familiar setup.
Power comes from a turbocharged 1.5-liter engine producing 133 kW, paired with a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. Suspension duties are handled by MacPherson struts at the front and a multi-link independent arrangement at the rear.
Rather than reinventing the Cowboy, Geely has chosen to refine a package that already stands out visually. In a market crowded with lookalike compact SUVs, that distinctive blend of rugged styling and everyday practicality remains the model's strongest selling point.
