A halo Mustang in limited numbers

When RTR revealed the 2026 Mustang RTR Spec 5, it wasn’t just another tuner special. This one is the halo car — the flagship. Priced at $159,999 and capped at 50 units worldwide, it’s built to be rare and instantly recognizable. Based on the Mustang GT with the Performance Package, it takes Ford’s own muscle icon and pushes it into territory usually reserved for Shelby or even full-blown supercars.


Power beyond Ford’s own range

Under the hood, the familiar 5.0-liter Coyote V8 is anything but stock. A Whipple 3.0-liter supercharger sits on top, paired with a heavy-duty race intercooler and a Borla exhaust. The result is staggering: over 870 horsepower and 660 lb-ft of torque. Buyers can stick with tradition and row through a six-speed manual or opt for Ford’s ten-speed automatic. Either way, the numbers put this Mustang above Ford’s own GTD halo model.


Suspension and grip tuned for the job

Straight-line numbers are one thing, but RTR has built the Spec 5 to corner as well. The car runs a bespoke “tactical” suspension system with 30-way adjustable coilovers and dampers, plus adjustable sway bars. Forged 20-inch wheels sit at each corner, wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. Stopping power comes from Brembo brakes, with six-piston calipers clamping down on two-piece rotors up front.


Widebody lines and carbon aero

Visually, the car makes no attempt at subtlety. A full widebody kit stretches the fenders, with new bumpers, rocker panels, and a ventilated hood. Carbon fiber is used for the splitter, skirts, and rear aero elements, while a large rear wing seals the track-inspired intent. RTR’s signature illuminated grille and a choice of graphics complete the look. In the flesh, it’s a Mustang that appears ready to fight just about anything that rolls up next to it.


Inside, focused but not stripped

The cabin treatment is less wild, though still distinct. Recaro sport seats are fitted, trimmed in grey leather and black suede, and there’s a serialized dash plaque signed by Vaughn Gittin Jr. Beyond that, it’s more about small RTR details than radical changes, keeping the car usable while still reminding the driver they’re in something special.
