2026 Ford Mustang Dark Horse T8 Spec Australian Version

Ford Australia and Triple Eight Race Engineering jointly developed the T8 Spec package with months of testing and calibration work.
Semi slick Pirelli tires are matched with revised springs, roll bar, suspension and steering for improved track handling.
Just 250 cars are planned, all based on the 2026 Mustang Dark Horse with a six speed manual transmission.
The 2026 Ford Mustang Dark Horse T8 Spec Australian Version is more than a limited edition carrying the name of a successful racing team. Ford Australia and Triple Eight Race Engineering spent months developing the package, with changes concentrated on the areas that matter most when a Mustang is driven hard: tires, suspension and steering.
Triple Eight brought two decades of Supercars experience to the project. Its involvement extended from early feedback through testing and final calibration, rather than simply signing off on an already completed car.
Dark Horse Exterior Gets an Exclusive Specification
What is confirmed is a tightly controlled factory specification. T8 Spec can only be added to a 2026 model year Mustang Dark Horse six speed manual fitted with the Recaro Sports Seats Pack and Dark Horse Appearance Pack. Avalanche Prestige Paint is mandatory and exclusive to the T8 Spec package.
That leaves the familiar long hood, compact cabin and rear drive Mustang proportions intact [Inference], with the engineering changes taking priority over visual differentiation.
Semi Slick Pirellis Lead the Chassis Changes
Tires became a central part of the development process. Ford describes the fitted Pirellis as essentially semi slick, track biased rubber, and the chassis was recalibrated around them rather than treating the tires as an isolated upgrade.
Changes include revised springs, roll bar, suspension setup and steering rack. Triple Eight contributed its experience with tire behavior and chassis balance, while Ford's engineers worked on translating that knowledge into a road car package.
Testing took place in Queensland and at Ford's You Yangs Proving Ground near Geelong. Triple Eight also participated in the final steering and handling calibration and vehicle sign off.
Only 250 T8 Spec Cars Are Planned
Production is limited to 250 examples. That scarcity, combined with the direct involvement of Triple Eight, places the T8 Spec as an Australian developed handling package rather than simply another appearance edition.
Ford's emphasis is clearly on chassis response. The result is a Mustang Dark Horse whose most important differences sit where they can be felt from behind the wheel, even if many of them are relatively subtle from the outside.
