2026 Ford Bronco NEV

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • The 2026 Ford Bronco EV makes a bold leap into electrified off-road territory, mixing classic Bronco looks with electric ambition.

  • Built on Ford’s upcoming electric platforms, it’s expected to offer strong torque—possibly in the 271 hp range for pure EV and 241 hp for EREV versions.

  • It targets rugged rivals like the Jeep Wrangler 4xe and Scout Traveler, promising EV torque without losing Bronco rough-road chops.

When the 2026 Ford Bronco EV surfaces in press photos, it’s unmistakably Bronco—squared-off wheel arches, boxy rear, swing-out tailgate and that spare tire peeking out. The EV twist comes from a smoother front fascia and no exhaust. A look that says “Bronco, but unplugged.”

Electric Powertrain Options

Ford appears to be rolling out two flavors: a pure EV and an EREV (extended-range electric vehicle). The full-electric version is reportedly packing about 271 hp (202 kW)—instant torque, zero tailpipe emissions. EREV models use a smaller 241 hp (180 kW) system, with a 1.5 L turbo petrol engine acting as onboard generator. Battery options include a 105 kWh pack for EV and 43.7 kWh for EREV—both using LFP chemistry. That smaller range extender pack hints at a few dozen miles of gas-free driving before the engine kicks in.

Rugged Looks, Refined EV Details

The stance is still aggressive, with off-road-ready ground clearance and solid 35- to 18-inch wheel options rumored. Flat body surfaces, upright pillars, flared arches—it’s all classic Bronco. But details like hidden door handles, flush panels, and LED lighting give it a modern EV feel. Press photos show the Bronco EV wearing recognizable Bronco bumpers, rock rails, and a rear kick-out that suggest this thing can still crawl over rocks.

Interior & Tech Glimpse

No full cabin shots yet, but insiders say we can expect Ford’s latest SYNC software on a digital dash, with integrated off-road telemetry, EV energy flow displays, and over-the-air updates. Think Bronco adventure trailer info, but electrified.

Competitive Context

Ford’s timing is smart—Jeep Wrangler 4xe has had early dominance in hybrid off-road, and scout EV rivals are coming. The Bronco EV stakes its claim by keeping that door-off, top-off freedom, but swapping out growly engines for electric grunt. It’s a Bronco that’ll hustle quietly up a trail.
