2026 Fiat Multiplay Concept

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • The 2026 Fiat Multiplay Concept combines MPV practicality, SUV styling and pickup versatility in a body measuring 4.45 meters long.

  • Its C Pillar Metamorfosi system transforms the vehicle from a 6+1 family configuration into a four seat pickup with an open cargo bed.

  • Interior innovations include the multifunctional Petsenger seat, rotating Sunseat, concealed dashboard display and a convertible bicycle rack.

Fiat Multiplay Brings Three Vehicle Formats Into One

The 2026 Fiat Multiplay Concept has made its debut at the Stellantis Night Before event ahead of the Paris Motor Show, presenting an unusual approach to family transportation. Rather than following a conventional MPV layout, the concept combines characteristics of an SUV, a people carrier and a compact pickup.

Measuring 4.45 meters long, Multiplay explores how one vehicle could accommodate passengers, recreational equipment and larger cargo without requiring separate vehicles.

The concept also revisits Fiat's history of space efficient family cars, particularly the 1956 Fiat 600 Multipla and the six seat Multipla introduced in 1998.

Green Bodywork and a Transforming Rear Structure

The Multiplay adopts a boxy silhouette with broad glass areas, upright proportions and a raised SUV inspired appearance. Its exterior combines bright green bodywork with contrasting upper surfaces, while the front features a horizontal lighting treatment and circular lower light elements.

The green finish references a watermelon rind, an intentional part of Fiat's Italian summer inspired color scheme.

Its most significant feature is the C Pillar Metamorfosi architecture. A rear module slides longitudinally along dedicated guides, allowing the enclosed passenger compartment to become an open pickup bed.

In this configuration, four seats remain available, while the rear provides room for bicycles, outdoor equipment and bulky objects. The rear spoiler also rotates into a bicycle carrier capable of supporting two bikes.

Flexible 6+1 Cabin With Petsenger and Sunseat

Inside, the Multiplay offers six conventional seats and an additional modular element called the Petsenger seat. This component can accommodate a child seat, provide space for a pet or function as a table and storage compartment.

A detachable cushion section doubles as a pet leash, while a folding bowl is integrated into the door.

The rear passenger area can accommodate two children or an adult when required.

Another unusual feature is the front passenger Sunseat. When parked, the seat converts into a rear facing lounge arrangement, using the dashboard as a backrest beneath the panoramic roof.

Hidden Dashboard Technology and Recycled Material Approach

The cabin uses red, pink and turquoise tones, contrasting with the green exterior. Soft surfaces incorporate no stitch 3D knitted textiles, while waterproof materials are used around children and pets.

A horizontal dashboard houses a concealed display that disappears when the vehicle is switched off, reducing the visual presence of digital equipment.

Large windows and panoramic glazing help maintain an open cabin atmosphere.
