Australian Launch and Pricing Structure
The 2025 Denza D9 has been confirmed for Australia as an all-electric luxury people mover, expanding the brand’s local portfolio following the recent introduction of the B5 and B8 Super Hybrid models.
Two variants will be offered. The front-wheel-drive Denza D9 is priced from $85,990 plus on-road costs, while the all-wheel-drive version starts at $95,990 plus on-road costs. Both sit at the upper end of the mainstream EV market, targeting buyers seeking seven-seat practicality without moving into full-size European van territory.
Proportions and Exterior Design Theme
Dimensionally, the 2025 Denza D9 measures 5,250mm in length and rides on a 3,110mm wheelbase. Those numbers matter. They explain the vehicle’s long, planted stance and the generous cabin packaging visible in the press imagery.
The front fascia is defined by a grille inspired by the mathematical π symbol, its deep vertical bars intended to convey power and immediacy. It is an assertive look, more architectural than decorative. The waistline rises with a subtle arc, described as echoing the trajectory of a celestial object, while the rear light signature produces a curved streak effect.
It is a large vehicle, but the surfacing keeps it controlled. Broad side panels, upright glass, and a disciplined shoulder line give the D9 a formal presence suited to executive transport and high-end family use.
Blade Battery and Performance Output
Underneath sits BYD’s e-Platform 3.0, purpose-developed for new energy vehicles. Central to the package is a 103.3kWh BYD Blade Battery.
The front-wheel-drive model produces 230kW and 360Nm, while the all-wheel-drive variant increases output to 275kW and 470Nm. Claimed WLTP combined range stands at 520km for FWD and 480km for AWD.
Charging capability includes 11kW AC and up to 200kW DC fast charging, alongside Vehicle-to-Load functionality. For a vehicle of this size, those figures place it competitively within the global electric MPV conversation.
Cabin Layout and Passenger Experience
The 2025 Denza D9 adopts a 2+2+3 seating configuration. Second-row captain’s chairs feature ventilation, massage, power leg rests, four-way lumbar adjustment, and memory function. Legroom exceeds 900mm in both the second and third rows, while headroom surpasses 1,500mm across all rows.
Materials include Nappa leather upholstery and open-pore white ash wood trim. A 15.6-inch infotainment display, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and 12-inch head-up display anchor the dashboard. Rear passengers receive a 5.5-inch armrest control screen.
A dual-mode fridge and hotbox, capable of cooling between –6°C and 6°C or heating to 50°C, underlines the D9’s first-class ambition.
Ride, Safety and Segment Positioning
Cabin noise is rated at 64.8dB at 120km/h. AWD models gain BYD’s DiSus-C electronically controlled suspension system.
Safety provisions include a Cell-to-Body structure integrating the Blade Battery, eight airbags, and a suite of active driver assistance systems including AEB, ELKA, BSD and RCTA.
Even with seven occupants, cargo space measures 410 litres, expanding to 2,310 litres with rear rows folded.
In a market increasingly attentive to electric SUVs, the 2025 Denza D9 makes a different case. It is not styled as a crossover. It is unapologetically a luxury people mover—electric, substantial, and engineered for comfort over spectacle.
