The 2026 Denza B8 marks the brand’s official arrival in Australia’s premium SUV segment, joining the smaller B5 as part of a two-model launch. Both are underpinned by BYD’s DM-O super-hybrid platform, a system engineered to combine long-range efficiency with genuine off-road performance.

Positioned as the flagship, the B8 is aimed at buyers who want the flexibility of a large 4x4 but expect refinement and sustainability in equal measure. Its design signals that intent clearly—sleek, muscular surfacing meets precise detailing, with confident proportions and a stance that leans more toward grand-tourer sophistication than utilitarian bulk.

Underneath the clean bodywork sits a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system producing 450 kW and 760 Nm of torque, supported by a 31.8 kWh Blade Battery and a 91-litre fuel tank for extended range. DC fast charging up to 120 kW enables practical flexibility, while the system’s hybrid architecture allows both electric-only commuting and long-distance touring without compromise.

The DiSus-P hydraulic adaptive suspension—standard on all B8 variants—enhances control on rough surfaces and stability on the highway. The 6-seat model gains front and rear locking differentials, while towing capacity rises to 3,500 kg, putting it in line with established rivals such as the Land Cruiser 300 Series and Range Rover Sport PHEV.

The B8’s interior is where Denza most clearly aims for the premium bracket. Both the six- and seven-seat configurations feature Nappa leather, a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen, and a 12.3-inch digital driver display anchored within a calm, horizontal dashboard layout.

In the 6-seat configuration, captain’s chairs occupy the second row, each equipped with heating, ventilation, and massage functions. A built-in -6 °C to 50 °C cooler/hotbox underscores the focus on passenger comfort. Sound is handled by an 18-speaker Devialet audio system, while soft-closing doors and customizable ambient lighting complete the luxury brief.

Safety technology is equally exhaustive, including 14 airbags and a 360-degree camera system for full-view awareness.
