Chery leans heavily into European-inspired styling
The 2026 Chery Arrizo S doesn’t hide what inspired it.
One quick look at the front end and the Audi references are impossible to miss. The angular headlights, wide hexagonal grille, and aggressive lower intakes all feel closely tied to the RS6 and RS7. Along the side, the fastback silhouette resembles the latest Audi A5, while the rear light bar carries more than a little A7 influence.
That might sound harsh, but visually, the Arrizo S still comes across cleaner than many recent sedan concepts from Chinese brands. The proportions are tidy, and the surfacing avoids unnecessary creases or oversized detailing.
It’s familiar, yes. Maybe a little too familiar. But it also looks surprisingly cohesive.
Fastback proportions push the Arrizo range upward
The Arrizo S appears noticeably more upscale than the current Arrizo 5 and Arrizo 8.
The long roofline flows neatly into the rear deck, giving the sedan a sleeker profile than a traditional three-box layout. Chery also adds 19-inch alloy wheels, quad exhaust outlets, and a subtle ducktail spoiler to inject some visual aggression.
Even with those additions, the car doesn’t really project outright performance. The overall stance feels more grand touring sedan than sports sedan.
That positioning probably makes sense given where Chery seems to want this model to sit in the lineup.
Interior moves toward a more premium presentation
Inside, the Arrizo S shifts away from the Audi imitation and follows a layout more typical of modern Chinese sedans.
A digital instrument cluster sits ahead of the driver, paired with a large central infotainment display integrated into the dashboard. Physical controls haven’t disappeared entirely either. The center console still retains a rotary controller and several hard buttons, which honestly feels refreshing at this point.
Materials appear more ambitious than current Arrizo models. Brown upholstery contrasts with purple ambient lighting, while wood trim and metallic speaker grilles attempt to give the cabin a more premium tone.
It’s hard to judge quality from photos alone, but visually, the interior looks far more expensive than older Chery sedans.
Turbocharged petrol power expected for production
Although shown in concept form, the Arrizo S is expected to reach production later this year.
Chinese media reports suggest the sedan will use a non-electrified turbocharged 2.0-liter engine producing around 257 hp (192 kW / 261 PS). Power is expected to go to the front wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.
There’s no mention of hybrid or electric versions yet [Unverified], which stands out at a time when many Chinese manufacturers are rapidly shifting toward electrification.
For now, the focus appears to remain on conventional petrol performance and refinement.
Chery targets a more premium sedan audience
The Arrizo S is expected to slot above the Arrizo 8 in Chery’s sedan lineup once production begins in late 2026.
That suggests pricing will climb beyond the current Arrizo 8 range, which sits between ¥99,900 and ¥148,900 in China. The larger footprint, more upscale cabin presentation, and stronger engine all point toward a more premium target audience.
Competition will likely come from domestic rivals pushing into the same territory, along with lower-end offerings from established foreign brands.
Whether buyers embrace the heavy Audi influence remains to be seen. But as a statement of intent, the Arrizo S makes Chery’s direction pretty clear.
