The 2026 Bugatti W16 Mistral La Perle Rare represents the ultimate open-top expression of the brand’s quad-turbocharged W16 legacy. Conceived through Bugatti’s Sur Mesure personalization program, the car stands as a singular commission shaped in direct collaboration between the client and Bugatti’s design team in Molsheim.

First initiated during the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in August 2023, the project evolved into what Bugatti describes as an exquisitely one-of-a-kind creation. The W16 Mistral platform, already positioned as the final roadster to feature the marque’s iconic 16-cylinder engine, becomes here a canvas for elemental inspiration and meticulous craftsmanship.

Pearlescent Exterior and Sculpted Linework

Visually, the 2026 Bugatti W16 Mistral La Perle Rare is defined by a bespoke two-tone composition that separates the upper and lower sections of the body. The palette moved from early silver concepts toward newly created white-based hues, culminating in two entirely bespoke finishes: a warm, gold-infused tone across the upper surfaces and a refined warm white enveloping the lower body.

The interplay of colour is rooted in Bugatti’s signature “Vagues de Lumière” philosophy, which celebrates the way light moves across sculpted surfaces. Achieving the final effect required extensive hand-applied masking and painting, with hundreds of hours invested to execute the dividing white-and-gold lines that define the car’s visual identity.

Diamond-cut alloy wheels are finished in a specially curated paint mixture designed to echo the gold and white tones of the bodywork. The result is cohesive rather than ornamental. The flowing fenders, low-slung nose and dramatic rear deck of the Mistral remain intact, but the colour treatment transforms the roadster into something closer to sculpture than machine.

Interior Craftsmanship and Personal Signature

The cabin extends the pearlescent theme. All interior carbon components are painted white, creating a concentrated, jewel-like cockpit. Door panels carry alternating white and warm gold linework that follows the concave sculpted geometry of the surfaces.

Warm ambient lighting subtly reinforces the luminous motif, while machined and polished aluminium trim elements—from steering wheel accents to centre console dials—capture light with deliberate precision.

The name “La Perle Rare,” rendered in the handwriting of Bugatti’s Sur Mesure manager Jascha Straub, appears throughout the vehicle, including stitched detailing on the central tunnel and engravings on the bespoke engine cover. Rembrandt Bugatti’s iconic Dancing Elephant motif is integrated within the gear selector casing and exterior panels, linking modern individualisation to the marque’s early design heritage.

Performance Credentials of the W16 Mistral

While the press release focuses primarily on design, the W16 Mistral platform remains underpinned by Bugatti’s quad-turbocharged W16 engine [Inference], representing the final chapter of this powertrain architecture. Official WLTP combined fuel consumption is listed at 21.8 l/100 km, with CO₂ emissions of 495 g/km.
