2026 BMW X5 Heritage Edition G05

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • BMW Individual Maldives Blue with M Sport package and 21-inch 915M wheels.

  • 3.0T inline-six diesel with 286 hp and 650 Nm.

  • Romania-exclusive model priced at €68,900.

Final Chapter for the G05 Generation

The 2026 BMW X5 Heritage Edition G05 has been unveiled to mark the forthcoming discontinuation of the fourth-generation X5. Based on the X5 xDrive30d, the Heritage Edition serves as a closing statement for the G05 platform. It will be offered exclusively in Romania, with pricing confirmed at €68,900.

The move signals the end of a generation that helped solidify BMW’s large SUV formula: restrained proportions, disciplined surfacing and an unmistakable kidney grille presence.

Maldives Blue and M Sport Specification

Visually, the 2026 BMW X5 Heritage Edition G05 distinguishes itself with BMW Individual Maldives Blue (color code A15). The shade lends depth to the X5’s broad-shouldered bodywork, accentuating the horizontal lines that define the rear and the upright stance at the front.

The model is equipped with the M Sport package as standard. Adaptive LED headlights and an illuminated double-kidney grille reinforce its modernised front fascia. The grille illumination, now familiar across BMW’s upper SUV range, adds a distinct nighttime signature without altering the vehicle’s fundamental architecture.

Twenty-one-inch 915M two-tone alloy wheels fill the arches, tightening the visual gap and lending the X5 a more planted posture. The proportions remain classic BMW SUV: long bonnet, set-back cabin and a squared tail that prioritises volume over flourish.

Interior Packages and Driver Assistance

Inside, the Heritage Edition is specified with the Innovation Package and Comfort Package. Professional driver assistance systems are also included, reinforcing its positioning as a comprehensively equipped variant rather than a cosmetic tribute alone.

While detailed cabin materials are not outlined in the release [Unverified], the combination of M Sport trim and package content suggests a high equipment baseline consistent with upper-tier G05 models. The X5’s interior architecture—driver-focused, horizontally layered and anchored by BMW’s digital interface—remains unchanged.

3.0T Diesel Performance

Under the bonnet, the 2026 BMW X5 Heritage Edition G05 continues with a 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine. Output stands at 286 horsepower with peak torque of 650 Nm.

Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in 6.1 seconds. The engine configuration remains aligned with BMW’s long-standing straight-six philosophy—balanced, torque-rich and suited to long-distance refinement. No mechanical revisions are noted beyond the existing xDrive30d specification.

Positioning in the Premium SUV Segment

Within the European premium SUV landscape—where rivals such as the Mercedes-Benz GLE and Audi Q7 compete [Inference]—the G05 generation has maintained a reputation for measured design and drivetrain breadth. The Heritage Edition does not alter that formula. It distils it.

Limited to Romania, the 2026 BMW X5 Heritage Edition G05 stands as a commemorative iteration rather than a mechanical departure. Maldives Blue, M Sport detailing and comprehensive equipment serve as the closing signature of a platform that defined BMW’s modern SUV language.

The G05 exits not with spectacle, but with refinement intact.
