The 2026 BMW M340i xDrive 50 Jahre Edition celebrates 50 years of the 3 Series.
Only 100 units will be produced exclusively for the Canadian market.
Features include six heritage-inspired colours, 20-inch forged M wheels, and the renowned B58 inline-six engine.
A Half-Century of the Ultimate Sports Sedan
BMW Canada has announced the 2026 BMW M340i xDrive 50 Jahre Edition, a limited-run model marking five decades of the 3 Series — a nameplate that has defined the brand’s identity more than any other. Limited to just 100 units, the special edition nods to the car’s enduring legacy while celebrating BMW’s relentless pursuit of balance between performance and sophistication
Launched in Richmond Hill, Ontario, this collector-focused variant draws design inspiration from the past six generations of the 3 Series. Each of the six BMW Individual colours offered tells a part of that story — Madeira Red, Laguna Green, Avus Blue, Carbon Black, Deep Green, and Citrin Black Metallic — shades that recall defining eras of the model’s evolution.
Production will take place in Germany starting November 2025, with deliveries expected shortly thereafter across select Canadian retailers.
Design Rooted in Heritage
Seen in photos, the 2026 M340i 50 Jahre doesn’t shout its exclusivity; it wears it quietly through texture and tone. The proportions remain tight and balanced — the long hood, short front overhang, and perfect stance remind anyone watching why the 3 Series has long been the reference point for sports sedans.
Exclusive 20-inch forged M Performance wheels sit low beneath the arches, paired with an M Performance exhaust that lends a deeper, richer tone to the B58’s smooth inline-six. The limited-edition badging is discreet — more a quiet signature than a proclamation — the sort of detail that seasoned BMW enthusiasts will spot instantly.
Inside, BMW Individual Merino leather upholstery reinforces the car’s bespoke positioning, merging craftsmanship with daily usability. It’s restrained, as it should be in an M340i.
Performance Meets Refinement
Under the hood lies the same 3.0-litre B58 inline-six, one of BMW’s most acclaimed engines — celebrated for its turbine-smooth torque curve and remarkable balance between power and civility. The engine defines the modern 3 Series’ dual nature: precise when pushed, comfortable when cruising. It’s this duality that has allowed the M340i to remain both a driver’s car and a grand tourer in one package.
While the press material doesn’t cite performance figures [Unverified], the standard M340i’s 382 horsepower and xDrive all-wheel-drive system provide context for what to expect — urgent acceleration, secure grip, and an ever-familiar inline-six soundtrack.
The Collector’s Modern Classic
Since its introduction in 1975, the BMW 3 Series has been more than a car — it’s been a measure of what a sports sedan should be. The 2026 BMW M340i xDrive 50 Jahre Edition doesn’t reinvent that legacy. It simply honours it — through colour, craftsmanship, and continuity.
For enthusiasts, it’s less about exclusivity and more about gratitude. Fifty years on, the formula still works — and perhaps that’s BMW’s greatest achievement of all.
