The 2026 Audi SQ5 FY arrives as part of Audi’s wider A5 and Q5 model-year update, and the focus is immediately clear. This is not about chasing more power or altering the fundamentals of the vehicle. Instead, Audi has concentrated on how the SQ5 feels to use, how information is presented, and how systems adapt to the driver in real time. The result is a performance SUV that evolves through interaction rather than spectacle.

Audi describes the update as both digital and material, and that balance defines the SQ5’s latest iteration. The underlying hardware remains familiar, but the layers built on top have been carefully rethought.

Exterior presence remains purposeful

Visually, the SQ5 retains its established proportions and muscular stance. Audi has not introduced new bodywork or lighting signatures as part of the model-year update. Instead, differentiation continues to come through trim content and detail execution, allowing the SQ5 to maintain a restrained, confident presence that aligns with its role as a performance-focused SUV rather than a design experiment.

This continuity feels intentional. Audi appears comfortable letting the SQ5’s form speak for itself, placing the emphasis on what changes once the door is closed.

A new digital language inside the cabin

The most significant updates are found in the cockpit. For 2026, Audi introduces an all-new MMI design language across the digital instrument cluster, central touch display, and available passenger display. The interface now uses fewer lists and more graphical elements, improving clarity and reducing distraction. Audi-native apps appear in bright monochrome, while third-party apps such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are displayed in colour, making it easier to distinguish functions at a glance.

The Audi virtual cockpit adopts a clearer structure with fewer icons and three selectable views. Drivers can switch between classic instruments, a navigation-focused layout, or an integrated driver-assistance view using the steering wheel “View” button. A fixed time and temperature display remains visible at all times, reinforcing consistency.

Audi also reintroduces a physical scroll wheel on the multifunction steering wheel, replacing the previous touch-sensitive surface. It is a small but telling change, prioritising tactile feedback and ease of use.

Adaptive dynamics through intelligence

For the SQ5, the most meaningful functional upgrade is the availability of the Audi drive select assistant on Prestige trims. This technology does away with the necessity for manual mode selection by continuously adjusting drive select settings based on driving conditions and learning driver behavior. Background changes in powertrain characteristics, ride quality, and responsiveness facilitate the shift from leisurely cruising to more strenuous driving.

The plan aligns with Audi's overarching objectives. Systems that dynamically adjust to situations instead of depending just on rigid modes are increasingly defining performance.

Assistance, convenience, and ownership value

Driver assistance and parking technology also expand. Park assist pro gains reverse assist for the final 50 metres when backing into a space and can memorise repeated parking manoeuvres on private property. A newly available integrated high-resolution dashcam records 4K footage directly to a removable SD card, with all data stored locally inside the vehicle.

Every 2026 SQ5 includes Audi Signature Care scheduled maintenance for the first three years or 30,000 miles, adding tangible value alongside the technology upgrades.
