Audi of America has officially unveiled the 2026 Audi A6 Sedan C9, marking the debut of the ninth generation of its long-running mid-size luxury sedan. Arriving at U.S. dealers in late 2025, the new A6 sharpens its focus on performance and refinement, with updates that span powertrain, suspension, acoustics, and technology.
Priced from $64,100 before destination, the A6 continues as a cornerstone of Audi’s business-class lineup, targeting executives and families seeking a balance between comfort and driver engagement.
Powertrain and Performance
Under the hood, the 2026 A6 retains its 3.0-liter turbocharged V6, but Audi engineers have reworked it to deliver 362 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque, an increase of 27 hp and 37 lb-ft over the outgoing model. Paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch S tronic transmission and standard quattro all-wheel drive, the sedan now sprints from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds, half a second faster than before, with an electronically limited top speed of 130 mph.
Dynamic upgrades also broaden the A6’s appeal. Adaptive air suspension with electronic dampers is standard on Prestige models, while the Sport plus package adds a lower steel sport suspension, sport rear differential, and all-wheel steering, a suite once reserved for the S6.
Audi devoted significant effort to reducing noise and vibration. Sound insulation is up to 30% better than the previous A6 thanks to optimized aeroacoustics, tighter window seals, and acoustic glazing now available for rear windows on Prestige trims.
New engine and transmission mounts reduce vibration, while even the gear tooth shape of the S tronic transmission has been refined to lower noise. Tires now integrate foam rings to further dampen road roar, ensuring a quieter ride on varied surfaces.
Exterior Design
Visually, the 2026 A6 balances elegance and presence. The Singleframe grille sits lower, paired with sleek headlights and bold quattro blisters on the fenders. The rear end stretches slightly upward, capped with a full-width light strip and new vertical brake light elements.
Buyers can choose between eleven exterior colors, including a new Midnight Green. Wheel sizes range from standard 19-inch alloys up to 21-inch multispoke-twist designs offered with the Sport plus package.
For sportier looks, the S line black optic package adds gloss black trim, anthracite Audi rings, and exclusive 20-inch wheels, while the Sport plus package layers in red brake calipers and other S-inspired cues.
The A6 now integrates Audi’s digital lighting system. Premium Plus and Prestige trims receive Matrix-design LED headlights with up to seven customizable digital light signatures. Prestige models add second-generation OLED taillights with 198 individually controllable segments per side, offering dynamic effects and improved visibility.
These lighting elements extend Audi’s design-first approach, giving owners the ability to personalize their sedan’s signature both day and night.
Interior and Digital Stage
Inside, the A6 emphasizes its role as a business-class sedan. Audi’s MMI digital stage anchors the cabin, combining an 11.9-inch virtual cockpit, a 14.5-inch central MMI touchscreen, and, on Prestige trims, a 10.9-inch passenger display.
Prestige trims also feature a configurable head-up display with expanded size and resolution, capable of showing navigation, media, and driver assistance information.
Material quality remains a hallmark: soft-wrap dashboard surfaces span door to door, Dinamica micro-suede inserts are available, and ambient lighting now backlights select inlays, including logos in the optional Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system.
Space and Practicality
A new digital curtain panoramic roof boosts front headroom by two inches while controlling glare with six switchable segments. Rear passengers benefit from improved comfort via available four-zone climate control and heated outboard seats on higher trims.
Trunk space remains practical at 13.5 cubic feet, with 40:20:40 split-folding rear seats allowing longer cargo such as skis. Power trunk open/close is standard.
Beyond quieter glazing, Audi has fitted Prestige trims with Bang & Olufsen 3D Premium Sound systems, complete with 16 to 20 speakers and up to 810 watts of output. Headrest-integrated speakers direct navigation or phone audio specifically to the driver.
Other refinements include power soft-closing doors, heated steering wheel, and acoustic optimization across seats and panels. Together, these features push the A6 closer to full-size luxury rivals in refinement.
The A6 continues to ride on a five-link suspension front and rear, largely made from aluminum. Buyers can choose between the standard comfort setup, a sport suspension lowered by 20 mm, or adaptive air suspension with electronically adjustable damping.
The dynamic handling system adjusts ride height, steering, and drivetrain settings via Audi drive select. All-wheel steering further reduces the turning circle to 37.1 feet, improving agility in tight city streets while maintaining stability at highway speeds.
Safety and Assistance Systems
Every A6 comes equipped with a robust suite of driver aids. Standard features include adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition, front cross-traffic assist, and a rearview camera.
Premium Plus and Prestige trims add advanced systems such as Park Assist Plus, Adaptive Cruise Assist, and a Top View camera. Together, these technologies align the A6 with class leaders in safety and semi-automated driving.
The 2026 Audi A6 Sedan C9 US Version arrives at dealerships in Q4 2025. Pricing begins at $64,100 for the base Premium trim, $67,500 for Premium Plus, and $71,400 for Prestige. Destination fees add $1,295.
