  • Standard equipment includes 18-inch wheels, sport seats, LED lighting and panoramic sunroof.

A New Entry Point for the Audi A3 Sportback Range

Audi South Africa has expanded its compact premium lineup with the introduction of the 2026 Audi A3 Sportback S line, creating a new entry point into the brand’s S line trim structure. The model arrives with pricing starting at R769,000 and sits below the existing S line Plus and S line Black variants in the local portfolio.

The addition forms part of a broader portfolio adjustment intended to make the A3 range easier to navigate while maintaining the design and technology that define the model line. Audi says the revised structure allows more customers to access the Sportback while still benefiting from the brand’s sporty S line design treatment.

Available exclusively in Sportback body style, the new derivative has been offered through Audi South Africa’s dealer network since March 2026.

Sportback Design With S line Character

Visually, the 2026 Audi A3 Sportback S-line keeps the familiar proportions that have defined the model since its latest generation launch. The five-door hatchback silhouette remains compact yet purposeful, with short overhangs and a slightly planted stance typical of Audi’s small performance-oriented models.

S line specification adds a more athletic visual tone to the exterior. The Sportback's 18-inch alloy wheels, which more forcefully fill the wheel arches, improve its posture on the road.

The sleek, modern front-end design is enhanced by the standard LED headlights.

The Audi A3 Sportback maintains a confident yet restrained appearance thanks to its balanced proportions and sharp body surfacing.

Interior Focused on Comfort and Everyday Technology

Inside, the cabin reflects Audi’s approach to compact premium interiors: functional layout, understated materials and a strong focus on driver ergonomics.

The cloth-upholstered sport seats offer everyday comfort while reinforcing the S line character. Ambient interior lighting subtly improves the cabin atmosphere, particularly at night.

A panoramic sunroof, a six-speaker audio system, and a comfort key system that enables keyless access and ignition are standard features. Convenience features extend to folding exterior mirrors, an auto-dimming interior mirror and adjustable lumbar support for the front seats.

The overall impression is a cabin designed for daily usability rather than dramatic styling gestures.

Powertrain and Driving Character

Audi’s A3 range has long served as a gateway into the brand’s performance-oriented compact models, and the Sportback S line follows that tradition.

The model is introduced as the A3 Sportback TFSI 110kW S line, delivering a power output of 110 kW. While the press material focuses primarily on equipment and positioning rather than detailed performance figures, the model continues Audi’s approach of combining efficient turbocharged engines with responsive everyday driving characteristics.

The S line derivative of the A3 lineup strikes a balance between practical drivability and sportier styling, making it appropriate for both longer trips and urban commuting.
