A one-off commission rooted in place

The 2027 Aston Martin Vanquish Volante Wave Edition is not a production derivative, nor a preview of a broader special series. It is a singular commission, created as a one-of-a-kind expression by Q by Aston Martin in collaboration with Aston Martin Naples. Its public debut is scheduled for the Naples Winter Wine Festival in January 2026, where it will be auctioned to benefit the Naples Children & Education Foundation.

The concept is tightly focused. Designers took direct inspiration from the movement, light, and colour of Florida Bay, translating that sense of rhythm into a car intended to read as fluid rather than ornamental. This is a bespoke exercise in restraint and intent, not visual excess.

Exterior details shaped by motion and contrast

Visually, the Wave Edition stands apart from a standard Vanquish Volante through its bespoke Q Iridescent Sapphire paintwork. The finish carries a subtle green shimmer beneath its blue base, designed to shift under changing light, much like shallow coastal water. The body’s long bonnet, cab-rearward stance, and tight rear haunches remain intact, but the colour treatment exaggerates the sense of length and flow.

Gloss black tinted carbon fibre is applied to both the upper and lower exterior packages, integrated into an extended body-colour paint scheme. Over this, a bespoke Club Sport White livery traces wave-like lines across the bonnet, side fenders, and rear deck, including fine pinstriping around the Formula 1–inspired bonnet louvres. Red brake calipers provide a deliberate visual interruption, referencing coastal marker buoys rather than performance theatrics.

A calmer interior counterpoint

Inside, the tempo shifts. Where the exterior communicates movement, the cabin is designed to feel composed and light. The interior color scheme is dominated by glacier white and gloss black carbon fiber detailing. A custom wave motif is introduced by pale blue contrast stitching, which is echoed throughout the sill plaques and embroidered into the headrests.

Details are tightly curated. A red anodised start-stop rotary mirrors the exterior brake calipers, while the rear carbon fibre cross brace carries a matching livery pinstripe, visually linking cabin and bodywork. The result is an interior that feels deliberate and spatially calm, rather than overtly dramatic.

Flagship V12 performance remains untouched

Beneath the sculpted bonnet, the Wave Edition retains the full mechanical specification of the Vanquish Volante. A twin-turbocharged 5.2-litre V12 produces 835 PS and 1000 Nm of torque, enabling 0–62 mph in 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 214 mph. The powertrain’s role here is not altered or softened; it anchors the car firmly as Aston Martin’s most extreme front-engine convertible.

The electrically operated fabric roof opens in 14 seconds and closes in 16, operable at speeds up to 31 mph, preserving everyday usability alongside supercar-level performance.

Positioning beyond production logic

As a one-off, the Vanquish Volante Wave Edition sits outside conventional market positioning. Its relevance lies instead in what it communicates about Q by Aston Martin’s capabilities: deep personalisation, narrative-led design, and the ability to build a cohesive visual identity without compromising performance. In that sense, it is less a variant and more a statement.
