2026 Alpine A290 Rallye
By Lorenzo Bianchi July 4, 2025
The 2026 Alpine A290 Rallye is the first fully-electric customer competition hot‑hatch—220 hp, 300 Nm go‑kart thrills.
Racing-ready upgrades include roll cage, ALP Racing suspension, ZF limited‑slip diff, Evo Corse wheels, and hydraulic handbrake.
Priced at €59,990 (ex‑VAT), it’s primed for one‑make cup and open rally stages—Goodwood debut coming.
In the snap of the first press shots, the 2026 Alpine A290 Rallye planted its flag—electric rally car, no nonsense. It doesn’t just wear its motorsport livery; it dials into rally DNA. Roof scoop, black bonnet, Evo Corse 18-inch wheels, Michelin rubber—it’s ready before it even fires up.
Design & Stance
Proportions feel punchy: wider arches box beefy wheels, lifted ride height hints at gravel-slaying instinct, while the roof scoop nods to sweaty cabins. Matte-black bonnet? It's practical glare control—but it also looks purposeful. It’s Alpine’s regular A290 turned up a few notches.
Mechanical Sophistication
Under the skin: a 52 kWh battery feeding a 220 hp front motor, torque zing of 300 Nm. A ZF-sourced limited-slip differential up front. The chassis gets ALP Racing dampers, a reinforced roll cage, and Sabelt FIA seats. Brakes are meatier—350 mm front discs, six-piston calipers, 280 mm rear—plus a proper hydraulic handbrake. It’s built to rip through hairpins, not just parking lots.
Sound & Sensation
Electric cars are silent—until Alpine adds its own voice. An exterior sound emitter throbs in sync with speed and throttle, giving weight to corner entries and stage passes. It’s a small touch but one that humanizes the machine.
Rally Intent & Event Context
This isn’t a cosmetic package. Alpine plans a one-make rally challenge in France later this year, plus appearances at Goodwood Festival of Speed and Rallye Mont-Blanc. And they’ll even set up charging pits for entrants—showing they’ve thought it through.
Competitive Context
In a field with Opel’s eRally5 Mokka and others, the A290 Rallye stands out for staying true to Alpine’s lightweight, agile ethos. Where others go brute, Alpine stays bright—tight, track‑leaning, rally‑bright.
Tech That Doesn’t Dominate
You won’t find flashy touchscreens or stacks of driver‑assist toggles. It’s electric power, but the focus is mechanical: grip, balance, fade‑free brakes. The sound system helps—or distracts, if you want it to. That’s it.
